A pretty lake near the local, world-famous observatory. You might recognize it from day 218.

Today was foggy and snowy. During the late afternoon I was quite busy with preparing for our imminent move to a new house, so I had to head out quite late with my camera. I figured a moody shot would be my best option.

What you see in this scene is the largest of three barns that used to belong to a popular Judge and cattle rancher. The nostalgic in me is sad to see buildings of historical significance quickly decay before their inevitable demise. While we still have them, they certainly add a heritage element to the breathtaking landscape in the area.

I'm so happy! It wasn't super bright, but it's the first time I ever get to see the aurora. There was a LOT of people at Porteau Cove tonight, many of them wielding very bright flashlights. Courtesy note for people: please use your flashlight sparingly. Please point them down as much as you can. And if possible, use a red light not to blind people.
