These decadent, tender cookies get their richness from cottage cheese , whey powder and a protein-fortified milk, and have added nutrients from chickpea and oat flour. The decadence comes from a hefty helping of chocolate!

Photo of the day April 28th, 2021 - 3 Oranges in a bowl. Last night, my wife discovered one of the oranges was bad. So she put the remaining fruit in a bowl on the kitchen counter.

Miniature apple for Aidan and Justin.... they're ripped perfectly and the size were just perfect for Aidan. Minor adjustment with curves, vibrance, USM and resized for the web.

Strobist Info: One bare SB-600 set on a stand with head facing up towards the ceiling and surrounding walls to bounce the lights. I set the power at 1/8th and triggered the strobe with Nikon CLS. The camera were on a tripod.

Having checked out the rather tatty and poorly maintained JEATH war museum in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, (see previous pictures earlier in this album), we are allowed a few minutes to walk around the area around the museum and then to actually get onto the steel bridge on the river Kwai, which replaced the earlier wooden one (see prevoius pictures earlier in this album) which was destroyed by Allied forces while fighting the Japanese. On my way to the bridge, I was delighted to spot one more of those gorgeously colourful cut fruit carts like the one we saw earlier, near the Kanchanaburi war museum. (see previous pictures earlier in this album). In fact, judging from the light grey checked shirt the vendor is wearing, it could have well been the same gentleman who has moved his cart down here. I couldn't help admiring the sheer size of the thing, with the many partitioned display slots and the variety of fresh fruit on display. (Kanchanaburi, Thailand, Oct. 2008)

Nuts in Green Spiky Seedcase in September (Castanea sativa, the sweet chestnut, or Spanish chestnut). The long-lived chestnut trees belong to the same family as oaks and beeches and live for up to 700 years. They are a symbol of wise circumspection. Both the types: Castanea sativa (in parks and gardens) and Castanea dentata (in arboretums) can be found in Poland.

Loaded with good for you organic ingredients like oats, whole wheat flour, oat bran, flax seeds, peanut butter and dried fruits, these tasty morsels are far better than those cardboard like bars you buy in the store. And they pack an energy punch!

On my way from the JEATH war museum to the bridge on the river Kwai in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, I decided it was time for a coffee, and I had one at this stand manned by this positively charming Thai Moslem lady. It's rather unusual to see Thais wearing head scarves- you tend to associate hear scarf wearing SE Asian ladies with Malaysia, Indonesia or Brunei. Most of the Islamic Thais are in the South of Thailand, near a place called Yala. Due to militancy which rears it's ugly head off and on, most tourists to Thailand do not venture far too deep south, limiting themselves to say Phuket or other popular places in the south. The coffee this lovely lady served me was typically Malaysian style: sweet, creamy and with plenty of sweet condensed milk. In fact, she is wearing an apron with the name Carnation boldly displayed on it- Carnation is a very popular brand of condensed milk in SE Asia. Indeed, Thailand is truly the land of smiles, and the kind lady was only happy to oblige when I asked to photograph her! I am in Kanchanaburi to check out the horrors pertaining to construction of the Death Railway by the Japanese between Thailand and Burma under inhuman conditions which led to thousands of deaths due to disease, accident, malnourishment or ill treatment. Detailed notes about the Death Railway appear throughout this album. (see subsequent and previous pictures). (Kanchanaburi, Thailand, Oct. 2008)

If, like me, you always have sourdough toss-off on your hands, don't toss it down the drain! Whip up these tender, slightly tangy cookies and stuff them with whatever chocolate goodies you have around the house (with Valentine's and Easter on either side of us, there's lots to choose from!).
