So the drones have arrived in Sydney.

They control the show, but can they control our minds?

I probably should have posted this yesterday. This is Ely Ford on the "big bend" of the Des Moines River and the hardwood covered bluff to the left is Lacey-Keosauqua State Park in southeast Iowa. Yesterday was the 100th birthday of the dedication of the park (Originally called Big Bend State Park).

Ely Ford is an interesting spot. It was a crossing spot on the river for the Mormons on their trek from Illinois to Utah. We visited the park earlier in the year and couldn't understand how anyone would dare trying to cross the river here in horse drawn wagons or in some cases hand carts. However seeing the spot this fall with the water level much lower it seemed the perfect spot to ford. The river is wide here but with the much lower water level, many exposed sand bars, and low banks on both sides of the river, it seemed possible.

I have visited the Lake District now a couple of times and my love for this stunning part of the country is very strong.

I have witness rain showers sunshine and this wonderful part of the countryside always impresses me in what scenery I have seen.

Having traveled 10 1/2 miles east from the end of their rare mileage trip to Quebec Junction Boston and Maine F7 4266 and Maine Central GP7 573 (EMD blt. Mar. 1949 and Sep. 1950 respectively) are back on the regularly used rails here at MP 89 east of Fabyan Station as they roll their nine car 470 Railroad Club special (with GP35 216 on the rear) over the Ammonoosuc River. They still have one more photo stop at Crawford Notch planned before making the long 1400 ft 2.2% descent down the old Maine Central Mountain Sub.

Having arrived at our Eskdale campsite, we unpacked the car and then headed off to nearby Wastwater, for sunset.As we got out of our car a guy told us that we were too late and had missed the light, nevertheless we tried to make the best of it!

Having trouble taking a decent photo the last few days. Today was grey, wet and miserable.

I have been going through my North Wales shots and found this hidden away. Not for everyone I know but I really like the moodiness of the shot. My OH's only comment was "mmmm it is very moody!" Don't think he wants it on our wall! It was taken at Whistling Sands on the Lleyn Peninsula. A dull afternoon but then some very interesting light suddenly appeared!

We have a short break between placements. This time we chose a hotel we had never stayed before. We open a door, and what a surprise! From one window, St Pancras station, from other- King's Cross! My team doesn't waste time and climbs up on the window frame

"Look, look, we can see that beautiful clock tower again." Matilde, little mouse, exclaims happily

" St Pancras railway station" answers Paddington.

"Why we could not see it from European Hotel?" asks Leopard, on of twins

Frīda: 'See that big crane on the left! There is a building site with big house that covers the lovely view"

Luna Rosa (the girl with blue hair): "I had not seen a room with a view to two stations. Pity, the trains are hidden away! Imagine what a view could be if we saw the trains running down there!"

And everyone nodded and agreed, that could be a Grand View!

Over the past 18 months I have posted many images from Hyde Hall and now I’m going to post another series, this time called ‘A day in the Life’. As the title suggests I’m posting what I think are the best of that day. These are just some taken on 31/07/2016, I have split the posting, too many for one hit. Hope you like them.

I have set a goal to walk at least 100km every month. Unfortunately, from July last year to March this year, the weather was hot or cold, and I didn't have time to walk, so I couldn't achieve my goal.

Last month in April, I was able to walk 100km for the first time in a while, so I would like to do my best in May as well.

The weather was very nice that day, so I was happy to be able to walk 8km. 🌲🌻🌸

The Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross is a relatively small albatross, with a total length of 71–82 cm and a wingspan of 180–215 cm (1). It is slim; the bill is long and thin, with a comparatively narrow yellow band on the culmen. The Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross breeds on Tristan da Cunha Island, Nightingale Island, Middle Island, Stoltenhoff Island, Gough Island, and Inaccessible Island. The at-sea range includes the South Atlantic Ocean and offshore South Africa, with increasingly common records off the eastern coast of North America.

Having been given permission back out onto the main, the engineer on the "Rosario Local" throttles up his two SD40s while the brakeman waits to re-line the derail once the short train is clear. They've just finished switching Nustar Asphalt, which can be seen in the far right of this shot. This track is part of the pre-1966 AT&SF alignment, which generally followed the Rio Galisteo from near its confluence with the Rio Grande towards Lamy.

This was the culmination of a one year long desire and about a four hour wait. I had seen this shot in my head ever since beginning my time qualifying out of Albuquerque, but it was either "they don't run up here anymore" or (once regular, predictable service resumed) I was always working when this job was working. Everything fell together today though, and it was worth waiting for!
