If the collaboration between Peugeot and Renault is mostly known thanks to the V6 PRV, it is less known for the X engine. Designed to make the gearbox appear under the engine, it’s what allowed the 104 to be so compact, its size being its main asset. The GLS appeared in 1985, so well-equipped that customers couldn’t even add options.
Like all GLSs, our 104 is equipped with a ZS steering wheel, radio, front headrests, rear wipers and washers. Repainted in its original jade green, its tweed upholstery is well preserved. It is presented to us in its original state, with a slight spot of corrosion on the rear rocker panel.

The Opel Kadett E-model was the very last Kadett version. In the UK it was available as Vauxhall Astra Mk2. It was designed by Gordon M. Brown.
The buyer could choose out of many different engines and many different body variations like 3 and 5-door hatchback, 4-door berline, 3 and 5-door estate and even a cabriolet.
The Opel Combo, the delivery version, was manufactured till July 1994.

The once mighty British Leyland (BL) made up a majority of the previous volume-brands in the UK. These included, among others, Austin, Jaguar, Land Rover, MG, Morris, Riley,Rover, Triumph, Wolesley and Vanden Plas.
Despite all the heritage, ownership of the brands also brought with it a bunch of dated products and under-resourced factories. Through the 1970s a majority of these were closed down and consolidated, and what was left entered a product-development agreement with the Japanese brand Honda.
Although there were a few well-regarded legacy products associated with some of the stronger marques, it was otherwise best to start with a clean sheet. Rover was selected as the strongest marque to take the group forwards. The Rover 200 model shown here was one of the earlier product agreements, being largely Honda Concerto-based (itself a Honda Civic platform derivative).
The Rover was sold as a 200-series of five-Door and Coupe, and as a 400-series four-door. Rover had developed their own small-capacity 4-cylinder that was well-regarded, which was also shared down to the smaller Austin Metro.
The 200-Series evolved into the Rover R25 (and 400-replacing R45) during the 1990s, at which point a surprise BMW takeover of the group occurred.

It probably escaped your attention that Alfa are still making the Giulietta after over ten years in production. This 70-plate example was only registered back in October 2020.

A random hatchback I made, that in my opinion has something of a Megane coupe about it. Ignore the cars in background, they're only there to make the photo more interesting!
Programs developing a small new Ford model started in Sept. 1972. Tom Tjaarda at Ghia was asked to do the final styling. Finally the car was presented to the press in June 1976.
The Fiesta was manufactured simultaneously in the UK, Germany and Spain.

The R16 was presented in jan. 1965. The hatchback concept in combination with front-wheel traction was at the time very modern.
It was designed by Philippe Charbonneaux (1917-1998) in cooperation with Gaston Juchet.
For 1971 the R16 got a restyled rear end.
For 1973 the luxury R16 TX was added with lots of standard options and accessories.
Her double head lights makes it easy to recognize a TX.
Seen at the Dutch-Belgium border, late in the afternoon.
