The R16 was presented in jan. 1965. The hatchback concept in combination with front-wheel traction was at the time very modern.
It was designed by Philippe Charbonneaux (1917-1998) in cooperation with Gaston Juchet.
For 1971 the R16 got a restyled rear end.
For 1973 the luxury R16 TX was added with lots of standard options and accessories.
Her double head lights makes it easy to recognize a TX.

The Fiat 127 was designed by Pio Manzù under supervision of Dante Giacosa, and launched in April 1971.
The Fiat 127 version 2 appeared in May 1977. Version 3 saw daylight in 1981.
The 127 was also made by Seat and Zastava.
This 127 1050 was for sale in NL from Sept. 1983 to Oct. 1986.
In July 2022 there were still 346 vehicles of this model Fiat 127 registered in NL.

The choice if you wanted a medium-size French hatchback in 1986. The Renault 11, as famously destroyed by Roger Moore in 'A View to a Kill', was only a three year old design but the Citroen GSA was right at the end of its life and rather dated, having originated back in 1970 as the GS.

Unfortunately this is as good a view you can get as the walls to this scrapyard were very high. I do hope to return to see if i can get some better pictures, these weren't the only gems in there.

A rarely seen, Proton Satria Neo R3 sports hatchback on the side of a gated community road. It is fitted with a Malaysian designed, 1.6 liter, 4 cylinder DOHC, 16-valve, multi point fuel injection gasoline engine (Campro CPS).
While the car itself is street legal, its fancy license plate isn't. And no, it is not my car. 😁
This was an impromptu photo opportunity, actually. It wasn't intended as a "car shot" per se and unlike my usual car pictures, I didn't take additional pics from different angles. I was walking down the road and thought the bright yellow color scheme complemented the nice clouds in the background sky. 📷

The Ford Fiesta is a supermini marketed by Ford since 1976 over seven generations. Over the years, the Fiesta has mainly been developed and manufactured by Ford's European operations, and has been positioned below the Escort (later the Focus).
The third-generation Fiesta Mark III, codenamed BE-13, was unveiled at the end of 1988 and officially went on sale in February 1989. The car was based on a new platform, ditching the old car's rear beam axle for a semi-independent torsion beam arrangement, and looked radically different, addressing the principal weakness of the previous generation – the lack of a five-door version, which was by then available in its major rivals such as the Fiat Uno, Peugeot 205 and 106, and Opel Corsa/Vauxhall Nova. The other main change was to the running gear – the improved high-compression swirl version of the Kent/Valencia powerplant. The CVH units from the second generation were carried over largely unmodified. The diesel engine was enlarged to a 1.8 L capacity.

The Mk.1 Ford Fiesta launched in 1976 was Ford Europes first multi-national front-wheel-drive automobile, and was available in both 3-door hatchback and panel van body styles. Originally developed under the Bobcat project name with a breif to have a wheelbase longer than the Fiat 127 (although shorter than some other rivals, like the Peugeot 104, Renault 5 and Volkswagen Polo), and with an overall length of less than Fords own Escort Final proposals for the new Supermini were developed by Tom Tjaarda at Ghia and approved for production in December 1973, with Ford's engineering centres in Cologne and Dunton (Essex) collaborating. with production going to Valencia, Spain, Daggenham, England together with Cologne and Saarlouis Germany. Fords marketing team had favoured the name Bravo, but were over ruled by Henry Ford II who prefered Fiesta, a name previusly used by GM on an Oldsmobile. Although not the first Ford vehicle to feature front-wheel drive (the 1960s Taunus produced by Ford of Germany laid claim to that title), the Fiesta is widely credited as being Ford's first globally successful front-wheel-drive model.
