This thing is definitely not stealth - especially not in red. Not recommended for covert operations or where decorum or discretion is advised - like in traffic court. Don’t bring this to traffic court. In traffic court you are supposed to do your best impersonation of an upstanding citizen, like the normal neighbor/accountant in a 50s sitcom. In other words, you’re supposed to dress like a PC, not a Mac.
First of all, it’s red. Did I say that yet? Just to be sure - it’s very red. Not painted on like lipstick on a pig. This red is impregnated right into the injection-molded ABS plastic hardshell. Like...like...like something born red. And something expected to be bumped and bruised through its useful life.

Attempts at glamour shots of my guitars. None of them are anything special, except that they're mine.
This was the first real guitar I ever purchased: a 1993 American Standard Stratocaster with rosewood fingerboard in black. As I recall, I tried a bunch of instruments at the music store where I was taking lessons and narrowed it down to this Strat, a blonde American Standard Telecaster, and I think a Washburn semi-hollowbody electric. I settled on the Strat because, well, it was a Strat. Can't say I regretted the decision.
FWIW, this was back when you could get an American-made Fender with hardshell case for under $700. I even think it was below $600, but I could be mis-remembering.
As I wind down the final days in my neighborhood of the last 10 years, I'm reflecting on all of the things around here that I will miss:
Pier 84 - having such a tranquil spot, just a few minutes away, sure was pleasant, especially on beautiful summer nights like tonight.
Daisy May's BBQ - not my favorite 'cue, though they're always rated tops in Zagat's. Having them a couple of blocks away was often both a blessing and a curse.
Tehuitzingo - this little Mexican deli serves up some of the most wonderful tacos from a tiny kitchen in the back of the store. There are eats that I will get a "jones" for occasionally -- a cheesesteak from Pat's, a Grimaldi's pizza, hardshell crabs -- add these tacos to the list.
The M11 - traveling along the western-most spine of Manhattan, it connected Hell's Kitchen to the Village at the south, and Harlem in the north. It was my bus of choice on many occasions, and I will miss riding it up to Lincoln Center or down to the High Line.
Sullivan Street Bakery - yes, it's actually on 47th Street, and the breads, flatbreads and pastries were a wonderful treat on many a weekend morning.
Hudson River Docks - I'll miss looking down the block and doing a double-take when it looks like a new 20-story building suddenly appeared at the end of the street, then realizing that another gigantic cruise ship had arrived at the docks on the Hudson. I'll miss hearing them blow their foghorns and it sounding like they were moored right outside my window (OK, maybe not that one so much).
Fleet Week - I'll miss being able to amble down the street and seeing the massive aircraft carriers that would arrive every year for this event. I'll also miss having my neighborhood turned into a temporary naval base every year, watching groups of sailors doing their wash in my laundromat or buying a sandwich from my corner deli.
The westside rail lines - I'll miss seeing the Amtrak trains zipping buy below street level, on their way to or from Penn Station.
So long, Hell's Kitchen. It was fun.

Building style is rare here in WI. This is where I go to get my fix of a number 6 (chalupa) with chicken and nacho cheese, no lettuce or tomato, no lettuce on the hardshell, an Empanada and Baja Blast and pay my Mexican phone bill. Taco Bell, mexican phone bill, get it? Yeah, it's dumb.....
This is the Meg Aero, one of the latest products from Boblbee (www.Boblbee.com), a progressive design company that makes all sorts of really interesting bags and packs. As you can see, their designers are not well in the head. Well, maybe they are - they’re just not from this planet. The Meg Aero is an evolution of their hardshell backpacks, conspicuously spotted on the backs of Charlie’s Angels (Cameron, not Farrah) and half a handful of other movies where the costume designer’s job was to be hip and future and out there.
What makes the Meg Aero of particular interest to you, dear reader, is the fact that the pack is TUV rated (TUV-rated is German for CE-rated which is Europeanese for DOT-rated-ish) as a back protector, and that the designers have taken a perfectly odd Megalopolis pack (what a name...I told you they weren’t well) and littered it with little design details that a discerning motorcyclist will appreciate.

This is my Yakima guitar. I bought it on eBay back in 1996 when the bay was in it's infancy. It's of solid one-piece neck-through construction (Maple or Alder), Rosewood fingerboard with a very loud humbucker, and Fender type whammy. Also featured are Grover-like tuners, 24 jumbo frets, and just one volume knob. Surprisingly, it has held up well over the years There is little or no info on a lot of these old guitars that briefly appeared on the market in the '80's. It was a time when the Japanese were cranking-out gobs of very good quality guitars, under numerous brand names. Then came the lawsuits and that was that. I have seen or played models under this name brand such as Randy Rhoads, Explorers, Flying V's, and various Strats, Paul's, Tele's, etc. This particular model is practically impossible to come across these days (especially in this great condition and with the original hardshell case), and is sought out by collectors. Back in the closet she goes.

American lobsters are a popular food. They are commonly boiled or steamed; for either method, keeping them alive until they are cooked can help avoid food poisoning, but frozen and refrigeration storage methods are also very common, and safe. Hardshells (lobsters that are several months past their last molt) can survive out of water for up to two days if kept refrigerated.
