Chevrolet and GMC trucks were of this style for model years 1948-1954. Up through model year 1953, the windshield was a 2-piece design. For 1954, a curved, one-piece design as shown above was integrated. However, the horizontal grille bars were utilized up to 1953. In 1954, the grille included a horizontal and vertical bar set within a perimeter outline similar to crosshairs.

This one has been customized in several ways. For example the headlights have a visor-like extension over the upper half of each lamp. The door handles and other trim have been eliminated.

Handles of Various sorts around the house

A sunset capture form El. Franco Lee Park that never made its way into the photostream. Hopefully, a few warm clouds will brighten and warm your spirit for the day.

We spent that morning getting blanketed by a rare snow storm that left everything under a sheet of white. The snowfall stopped before noon and a majority of the snow is gone from the roadways. Those roadways could be quite treacherous this evening as the temperatures drop to 19ᴼF overnight. I know that some in the north will give a chuckle and say that they deal with temperatures like this on a daily basis, but we can go three or four years at a time before the temperatures drop below the freezing point here in the Houston area. Our infrastructure is just not set up to handle situations like this and so, it’s a bit of a challenge over the next 14 to 16 hours before eh temperatures get above freezing. We’ll be above freezing by 10 am tomorrow and everything should return to normal after that.

I did venture out to take some photos, but have not looked at those photos, but I am not noted for my snowscapes and am not certain that any will be posted. Just hoping that everyone stays save and warm from Texas to Florida.

Just a footnote about the decorative birds on the observation platform, they are not real, but are a part of the decorative handrail on the platform.

Handle of the old wooden pepper-mill

There is a personal story with this photo. I bought a set of 6 cups and saucer over 30 years ago when I was a graduate student at the University of Alberta. The set was purchased at the local Army & Navy Store. Since then, I have moved to different cities and parts of the country and at present, only a pair survived so far! I do't use the cup any more except once in a while for old memory's sake! The reason I mentioned about Army & Navy Store is because due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, like many other businesses, Army & Navy also had to shut down their stores!

Macro Mondays Handle

The handle on an antique Chinese tea pot. The lid is less than two inches in diameter; the dog barely an inch in length.

Macro Mondays- Handle with Care

It is a Generation 2 Ford Falcon (North America). It could be a 1964 model or 1965. The grille is for a 1964 model but the tail lights are for 1965.

This one has been customized considerably. The door handles have been replaced and the fuel filler has been relocated from the back presumably into the trunk. The bumpers have been painted to match the car body.

Saw a little old Fargo relic (Canadian equivalent of a Dodge) maybe 3/4 ton parked and just waiting for it's close-up. Sweet.

What has become an annual event that just keeps on keeping on, is the Auto fest Spring car Nats held in Shepparton. Here is a link to the event organisers page, autofest.com.au/.

The event has been going for over 30 years, and for many there is no better way to spend the weekend than with like-minded people, as the entrants burn rubber with an excess of horsepower, that is thankfully quite obscene : )

There was and is everything from the go to woe, handling events, drifting, and of cause burn outs! Burnouts bouncing of the rev limiting, literally hitting the redline burnouts. How much rubber do they burn, enough so I can smell it from my house nearly a mile away : ) PS the smoke signals might be cultural appropriation, so some one should bring along a Pontiac and make it officially ok : P

Jack Danniels www.jackdaniels.com/en-au has a bar, so Tennessee is represented, although in the main part, not much American iron turns up at the event in comparison to the Australian contingent and Japanese cars.

V8s are the flavour, although you might be surprised like I was this year to see a Honda S2000 turn up, a pleasant inclusion, with one of the all-time great 4 bangers in it.

Black snot is a thing, that is if you can handle the close quarters action! You might like to take some year plugs, even then for about mile you will still be able to hear the cars at it.

As a car enthusiast I enjoy the day, friendly people getting their thing on, and having a great time.

PS. Make sure you drink lots of water, and keep hydrated!

Grotesque on the handle of a stoneware gothic-style 'apostle' jug'. These jugs were manufactured in large quantities in the 19th century. This design, which was first produced in 1842 was one of the most popular. It is relief moulded; a mass-production technique which used elaborate plaster moulds, with no extra work required for adding the decoration, making them both attractive and affordable. The body of the jug has a series of figures (the 'apostles') in architectural niches.

Not dangerous, deadly, toxic or breakable but delicate. Ironically, I don't think we have ever hand washed this piece of clothing with our hands.
