I like sliding my hand through the handle on a traditional coffee mug, rather than gripping it. I sewed on a piece of scrap fabric creating a "handle" of sorts.

Assembled ballcrank handle.
Distance between centers of 18mm: doesn't interfere with compound slide as much.
Cross-drill small holes first when they're still easy to center, then turn the crank handle, then go back and drill them out to what you need. The reverse is unpleasant.
Found a nice Link Octagonal handle at a local hardware store - hanging the 1920 or so Patent Nailer on this solid Hickory Handle went well. Currently drying from the Dark Walnut stain
The flag lowering ceremony at the American Military Cemetery near Cambridge in England.
I've seen this ceremony conducted so many times on TV and in films, but this was the first time I'd ever witnessed it at first hand: it was quite a moving experience to see the care with which the flag was handled.
The Cemetery commemorates the names of nearly nine thousand US military service personnel who gave their lives during WW2: 3,812 are actually buried here, and a further 5,127 names are remembered on Tablets of the Missing.
As well as ground forces, a great many of the casualties died as a result of flying missions over Europe, or at sea during the Battle of the Atlantic.

On the Victorian south door is the oldest artefact belonging to the church. It is the iron ring handle with a circular pierced backplate, and is thirteenth century. Two salamanders, which were believed to survive fire and so would protect a building, are riveted to the oval handle, while on the ring at the end of the shank is a tiny bird. This could be a dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit.
