Continuing my pinhole exploration, I intended to photograph this avocado green vase from the 70's in the light of our bedroom's north-facing windows, but nothing really felt right as I moved the object around to different locations.
After setting up the table and moving the vase to the corner of the room, I experimented with handholding a 20 second exposure to get this sort of "old painting" type of shot. It's technically very underexposed (and arguably compositionally uninteresting) but there is something about it that I really like.
Morning stack of a sawfly (ca. 12mm, Dolerus sp. - Hymenoptera).
Handheld fieldstack based on 14 exposures, assembled in Zerene Stacker (Dmap & Pmax). Canon 5Dmkii in continuous shooting, MP-E 65mm at approx. 1.4x, ISO-200, f/6.3, 1/50sec, -0.3step, non-diffused natural light.
This stack was made in continuous shooting and by moving the subject towards the lens. Camera in the right hand, stick with sawfly in the left. To make sure my hand wouldn't make too many lateral movements i let i slide along a metal rod. The latter was firmly placed under the camera and pointing 30cm forward, i.e. parallel to the lens.
This is not the best way to get pin-sharp images, but it does allow to make a quick stack in just 4 or 5 seconds ..... without need for tripod(s) etcetera.

Very busy sky last night, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and Mars. While I was on my Stellarium nightsky app I noticed the I.S.S. flying at approx. 28,000km per hour by Venus, so I ran out and got this while in my pyjamas of course. Having no time to setup I caught this handheld.
Handheld 3 exposure HDR / Photomatix Pro, Topaz Adjust, and Photoshop processed.
We are obviously in San Antonio Texas and doing the Old Mission tour of five Spanish Missions built in the early 18th century. There are five in all with the sixth one being the Alamo.

The sunset at Meragang Beach. I was trying to compose my shot but those nasty sand flies were feasting on me. Reason enough for those footprints that seems to be doing the cha-cha and my not being able to stack up my cam on tripod ;)

Two Harbors has two lights. The red brick lighthouse is now a B&B with an automated light. The automated harbor light is at the end of the breakwater.

I forced a few clips together and cut to keep under the 90 seconds for Flickr, but it didn't lose much in the cutting (read: full footage would suck too)
The first two shots are from Cadillac Mountain, the highest point "on the Eastern seaboard". The third is the "Wild Gardens of Acadia" area.
In the not too distant past, our rabbits and I made a few little critters to drum up a little dough to pay for their pet cat’s mounting medical bills. Probably because we channeled a whole bunch of positive energy into them, they feel pretty good to look at.
Then I realized they feel pretty good to hold, too. Their asymmetrical shape is a bit anatomical—they seem to fall right into the crook of the hand. I soon noticed that my hands, when idle, went straight for one. Familiar like a well-worn blanket or other childhood treasure, they’re quite cuddly. Best of all, they don’t snore.
As usual, these little sweeties contain the standard materials: recycled wool, cotton, and buttons and hypo-allergenic poly-Dacron fiber fill. Healthy for both people and the environment we live in, they’re lovely gifts for anyone who needs a little comfort every now and then.
