Still going through old photos, when I found this. Thought it was pretty good for a handheld shot. Right place, right time. Betterfly by pressing "L".

Handheld panorama of the alpine meadow, just west of the memorial marker.

Garden view from the Imperial suite room (i.e. the Emperor of Japan stayed here) at Kinosaki spa, Japan.

I didn't have a functional tripod with me when I took this shot, so I had to do it handheld. There is quite a bit of camera shake, but I still thought it was worth putting up on flickr. Taken at the UNT Discovery Park from a bus stop.

Found a spare bit of plastic (orange plexiglass) and so that's now my prototype backplate. I guess... ;)

An arduino 328 chip drives this build (not a nano module but the old style DIP 328 atmega). There was not a lot of room on this small board and so the usual nano arduino was not going to work out, here.

The button pad allows volume control over 2 speeds. Center button is mute, and the 2 small round buttons are user-defined buttons.

An xbee is now mounted at the bottom of the 'frame' and that's what does the actual remote control.

For now, I hacked in a canon rechargeable li-ion battery (3.7v) and that powers it pretty well. The circuit can run on as little as 2.8v so 3.7 is more than fine; and 5v is the upper limit.

(What this does: its a custom built remote control for an audio system that I designed. This gives the minimum needed to control volume and some other important details; but does not try to be a 'kitchen sink' or something with too many buttons and functions. The arrow keys let you adjust volume in 2 speeds, 1db steps and 4db steps (user settable). This dual-speed system has been something I have developed and been using for several years now and it actually is quite efficient in its use. Once you have tried it, there's no going back to the old single speed style again)!.

I was reaching out through my longest lens to try and capture a woodpecker that I could hear from my upper deck. No luck with that. This bird flew over the house. The plane was returning in the dusk to a residential community attached to a general aviation airport about two miles from my house.

I’ve always had a love hate relationship with Tiger handheld games. When I was a kid I was easily swayed by their slick commercials promising an arcade in the palm of your hand. Time after time I got them and time after time I was disappointed by an over simplistic repetitive piece of code turd inside a promisingly attractive shell. I know part of the blame rested on me, I mean fool me once... So the other day I began wondering what had happened to them and dare I say it, I missed them.

So in honor of the dead, I decided to do a few updated classics starting with my favorite Angry Birds. While drawing it I came up with a defined set of gameplay ideas while staying true to the Tiger formula, a little bit of the license and a lot of crap gameplay. So here we go!

-------------------------------------------

Instructions:

- Use the Directional Pad to select the trajectory of the bird’s flight.

- Hit the fire button to launch your bird.

- The pigs will dance back and forth so it’s up to you to time your drop perfectly. Hit them all and advance to the next level, but be warned, they get faster and harder to hit!

- You have three birds, once they are through it is game over!

- If you collect a golden egg you will get access to the Mighty Golden Eagle! A Golden Eagle advances you to the next level.

- Since this is a Tiger game, there is no ending, the game loops past world 4-18.

-------------------------------------------

I’m set to do at least one more so if you have an idea for one, let me know in the comments!

Oh and thanks to www.logotypes101.com for the Tiger logo, not having to recreate that in Illustrator is a blessing!

As mentioned previously I had lent my tripod to John, I wasn't overly bothered about getting the camera out but as the sky lightened I knew it would be a colourful dawn, probably the best of the year for me.....

The composition isn't the best but shooting handheld and having to adjust the grad at the same time proved too much for me!!
