Made these exactly 13 years ago when I was expecting my fourth child. I had about 10 days left before I had the baby and I decided we needed stockings.
Made with felt, my own designs, hand embroidered with blanket stitched. My children all still love these and get excited each time they are pulled out of the decorations box!

"What's a Christmas Pickle?" you may be asking.
The Christmas Pickle is a pickle-shaped ornament hidden in the tree. The child who finds it first on Christmas morning receives an extra present.
While the Christmas pickle is believed to be a German custom, it is fairly unknown in Germany but widely spread across the United States.
Many of the pickle ornaments are made from a very fragile, thin glass..which isn't terribly safe for young children.
The ones I've made are a safe, all-natural alternative to the glass pickles that are so fragile and easily broken by young hands.
This one is made from 100% wool felt, and hand-embroidered using straight stitches and blanketstitching. It is stuffed with wool from sheep I raised.
The ones I've made range in size from 1 1/4" to 3 1/2" - so different ages of children can be challenged at their own level.

The artist draws article of daily use from his graffiti past like markers, paint rollers or spray cans and adds his embroidered pixels raster.
She will be the last Little Lady with this lovely blue soy wool blend yarn. Unfortunately, they've stopped making it.
This is the center. It is a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote, swirled in the center of a sunshine. "Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air..." All of the blue around the sun is hand embroidered. The sunshine and the words are hand embroidered. Did I mention this took a very long time to complete?

Nina went to preschool for the first time. It's a huge change for everybody, specially for her, and I wanted her to have something very special to go along with her, even when I'm not present. I decided to make her the backpack, even at the risk of not being able to compete with all those backpacks with tv cartoons out there (everyone who has 3 years old kids know what I mean). We both agreed that I would make her a very special backpack, and that she would have her favourite cartoons on other stuff, like her water bottle and lunch box. I got her involved on the design process, in order to catch her interest. Together, we decided it would have an hedgehog, that we both love, and she said she wanted it to be "under a tree's shadow". She chose pink (of course), and I took care of the rest, secretly. I imagined some kind of child's story scenario, in a forest full of flowers and nice animals, something that would give her some peace and fantasy. I played with colours and used a different shade for the side panel, and another for the zipper. For the lining, I used a cute fabric full of hearts ("look Nina, those are our hearts, from our family, who is always with you"). I hand stitched her name and then added this tiny detail, a wooden bird to help her pull the zipper. She loved it, and this mother's heart got a little lighter, knowing everything will be ok...

I just thought these were too cute when I saw the pattern.
Dan needed a shirt for a promotion that started at work you guessed it "Project Bang" I didn't have a lot of time so I ironed on all the letters except for Bang which I wanted to look old school like from a batman episode. ( I think I ironed on cockeyed cause I am truly afraid of the iron still!)
A good friend of mine commissioned 2 robots for her soon-to-be-born baby boy's room. They are hand-sewn and stretched over canvas, 5"x7" plus frames.
This pillow is great. The white thread is actually GLOW IN THE DARK thread. Part of my swap with the awesome kittykill on craftster. I got so many goodies.
