Two birds from the Sublime Stitching book, "Embroidered Effects" on a coral blouse.
I've stitched on other people's clothes, but this is the first time I've stitched something for me. :)
You can read all about this piece on my blog; split stitch and satin stitch in cotton on antique linen doily. approx 30 hrs work. My design based on 19th Century illustration
Here we have the new photos of my bags done by a great photographer friend. Over time he will be upgrading my photos for me! This Kabalah Tree of Life is Hand embroidered with metallic threads. This bag is big enough for a large sized Tarot Deck (e.g. Thoth) or Oracle Cards. People have also used these bags for jewellery, crystals, runes and more!

Pattern from Bustle and Sew
Took me ages to make but I love the result.
French knots made using three strands or three different shades of grey. I both love and hate French knots. If my eyesight wasn't already poor, I would have ruined it making this.
First gift making of the new year, yay !
Floral fabric is Liberty of London, Tatum print.
Trim bought in Paris last year, and re-embroidered.
(old ?) Pink fabric has been re-embroidered too. (I loved making this !!)
Lining is a lovely acqua (or minty ?) gingham.
It's a gift for a friend but it inspired me to make more of these for the shop !
"a blue day is a work of art"
"St. Louis Blues"
"blue moon"
"blue eyes"

1,3,10,15,17,18,21 are all significant days in my life that represent a difficult time.
Anubis bag with Anubis statue facing the camera a bit more and Egyptian Tarot cards.. The top card is 'The Moon'. This is a lovely deck by Clive Barrett. I have Hand Embroidered him with metallic threads.
Since I don't sew ( well) my mom makes all my bags for my items so I don't have to handstitch them all so I make gifts for her to give away. It is almost free advertising... I whipped up this and a matching bib. I do love the new SS patterns I used here "Cute Little Heads" check out www.sublimestitching.com
The top half of the February journal quilt that I made. It represents a variety of things I enjoy:
- dogs
- trips up north that my daughters and I have made (the pine trees)
- horses
- sheep
- chickens (the white feathers)
- cats
- nature/flowers
- family
The hears are hand-embroidered onto the quilt because the points where the fabric came together looked not as neat.
Even though these appliques cover mistakes, I thought they could also represent the 3 grandparents I knew who I miss.
RE DO - I had the movie quote out of order (auugh!) and had to do it over. I found a deeper purple pillowcase for Round 2, and was VERY careful with pen marks this time. :)
The camera flash sort of washed out the green letters, but it looks nice in person.
The top of Vona's pillowcase, as requested by her sister (it's to be a gift).
The quote (in case you don't know) is from the book/movie "The Help."
I figured the "You" parts should be in block letters, and the "I" parts more casual, almost as if handwritten. :)
Bast bag with Bast statues, beads, perfume container and Egyptian tarot deck. The deck was created by Clive Barrett. I have Hand Embroidered her with metallic threads.
George Plimpton once wrote an article called "The Man in the Flying Lawn Chair" (found in the book of the same name) about a Californian man named Larry who's lifelong dream had been to soar through the air. After having the idea to use balloons for twenty years, he finally bought a lot of weather balloons, filled them with helium and tied them to a lawn chair and set off on his flight. He had no explanation as to why he wanted to fly like this, it was just his dream and something that he had to do.
I have embroidered some multicoloured balloons, filled them in with pencil crayons and added a small chair. When I was reading the article, I kept thinking of the line that Gene Wilder says in the lickable wallpaper scene "We are the dreamers of dreams" and I thought that it was the perfect sentiment. The quote is actually from a beautiful poem called "Ode" by Arthur O'Shaughnessy.

I just redid a bunch of these. The whole laundry thrown about by the wind idea just didn't really show how these look on a person (obviously)... (the mannequin's hair makes me want to start singing old Cher songs)

This fold over top wallet is one of a kind craft piece and fully hand embroidered with my flower bed design by using DMC embroidery threads on felt.
