..Il padre il bambino lo tiene per mano
c’è tutto il destino in un palmo di mano
Le mani, le mani che sanno parlare, che sanno guarire e che sanno pregare
Le mani legate, le mani ferite, le mani, le mani pulite ..
E De Crescenzo -
The child .. The father takes him by the hand
there is the whole fate in the palm of your hand
The hands, hands that know how to speak, they know that know how to pray and heal
Hands tied, wounded hands, hands, hands are clean ..

Unfortunately I was not able to photograph my Dad's hands as I had done with my Mother. I took this with my iPhone while visiting him in hospice. These hands saw more than eight decades. They are the hands of of a teacher, gardener, artist, librarian, and most importantly Father. So much love was exchanged through these hands.

A pesar de no estar bien enfocadas, me gustan y os las quería mostrar.
I know they aren't focused, but I like them.

Dug out of the archive to contribute to a photo club theme entitled "Hands and Feet". Taken on July 12th, 2008 at my home when I lived in the Charente, France. The adult finger is my left index finger and the tiny hand clutching it is my grand-daughter Hermione's. Dicey shot: I had to hold the camera in the other hand to take the shot.

I think over break I'll do a series where I draw on myself. I have it mostly planned out, but that doesn't do much good without time to execute it.
That's an owl by the way.
Ohmygoodness, my first explore. :D

Also known as the Lar Gibbon, White-handed Gibbons share their range in southeastern Asia with the Siamang. Like other gibbons, white-handed gibbons move through the trees by brachiation, swinging hand over hand through the upper canopy of the forest
Mainly frugivores, white-handed gibbons prefer fruits high in sugar such as figs. They also feed on insects and flowers.
Family groups protect their territory by warding off other gibbons with their calls. These songs are usually initiated by the female with the male joining in to form a duet. Their loud resonant songs can be heard up to 1/2 a mile away.
White-handed gibbons' greatest threat is their loss of habitat. In the wild their life expectancy is about 25 years.

I reminisce on Grandma's hands
Her visions of Heaven's lands
Spectacles of repose so grand
Summer floral perfumes
Velvet pastures for rooms
Eternal light so divine
Ambrosia, sweeter than wine
I reminisce on Grandma's hands
Gnarled, old but natural
Her songs, hymns so musical
Her life well spent, faithful
I reminisce on Grandma's hands
Her dreams came true, that's grand
Souls in repose, in Summer-land
Her visions of Heaven's lands
Yes, I recall my Grandma's hands.

This idea came up after I discovered earlier this week that our cellar had flooded. Pumped out 11.000 liters into the sewer, emptied and cleaned up the place with a lot of help of friends and found out that a little crack in the drain caused the leaking of groundwater.
With the rain the last couple of months the level has risen very high in Belgium.
So had my hands full this week solving the problem.
Thanks to my assistent photographer Leen Celis for taking the pictures directed from my seat after the set up with some older forgotten material was finished.
