"Hold your mad hands! for ever on your plain
Must the gorged vulture clog his beak with blood?
For ever must your Niger's tainted flood,
Roll to the ravenous shark his banquet slain?
Hold your mad hands! and learn at length to know,
And turn your vengeance on the common foe,
Yon treacherous vessel and her godless crew!
Let never traders with false pretext fair
Set on your shores again their wicked feet:
With interdict and indignation meet
Repel them, and with fire and sword pursue!
Avarice, the white cadaverous fiend, is there,
Who spreads his toils accursed wide and far,
And for his purveyor calls the demon War."
~ Robert Southey, 1774-1843 ~
The poem is about war, but the bloody violence in the words appealed to me to accompany this image. I could imagine the croc repelling traders who sail nearby....
I wonder if the delicate feather attached to the hand came from a vulture?

Called a Buddha's Hand Citron, this odd looking fruit is actually one of the oldest members of the citrus family. Although it smells strongly of lemon, it has no juicy pulp hidden beneath its rind. Instead, the Buddha’s Hand is grown commercially for its powerful zest. The aromatic rind is used to flavor lemon liqueurs and specialty vodkas, and provides aroma to lemon-scented cosmetics. Chinese and Japanese households hang it in their homes as a natural air freshener, and it even has a place in some religious ceremonies.

i'm getting ready to make my cranberry sauce...and i plan to zest a bit of it into the sauce...and use some of the fingers to flavor vodka.
these hands hardly ever rest. My son's favourite hobby is to create the most phantastic vehicles with his Lego bricks.
In Tunisia you can see the Hand of Fatima almost everywhere . The idea behind is that it protects you from the evil eye by looking at the source of the curse. Also considered as a good luck charm.
Thats right, I swapped someone fabric for Dollfie hands. . . . Two pairs of these babies, and I got some really pretty japanese fabric (from Japan!!) If you know me really well, you know that I'm a bit of a japanophiliac! So I was a push-over. Usually pretty hard to get me to give up any of my Dollfie parts (Even though I have a bunch of them!) These are just for the 27cm Dollfie though (and yes, volks, not obitsu!)
This picture says so much and means a great deal to me, the hands of Mr Walter Breuning. As I sat and talked with Walter I could not help but to notice his hands in his lap. Not the best shot but the only one I got. I have so much to say about this shot, but I am in between jobs. Have to go....will ad more tommorrow.

First child, first year as a family, as a father...
First week pic for my first 52 project! Wohoo!
The tiny hand belongs to my son Aiden, born six minutes before New Years. You're probably going to see a lot of him the coming 50+ weeks. heheh.

Oops. I totally missed a picture - this one actually taken on the 3rd... It's a bit of a cheat, but it will have to do... cause I'm not dropping out. Oh no. I'll be catching up on uploads as soon as possible; life happened, and though I'm still taking my pictures, I just had no time to spend on the computer. I also have quite a creative blockage where I'm just not satisfied with what I got... and I'll work it out.
More to come.
