One of very cutest kid.. daugther of a relative of mine.. I asked her to hold my hand and she politely stretched her hand.. At that very moment I clicked this one handed with Canon 450D with 50mm f1.8 lens...

Comments and Critique are most welcome..

TheSamiAwesome, sorry for taking so long to take these, and for the horrible lighting. Cursed winter time >_<

From the top..

Hands on doll are original ShinyDOLL Fragille hands (which I personally find a bit too small and girly but when attached they do flex and move a lot better than the RS one below that are better in proportion)

Middle sized hands, ResinSoul hands, NS tone.

Slightly modded down around wrist for better fit with ShinyDOLL Fragille body.

And finally, largest and most flexible jointed hands, 1:4 White Female DikaDoll hands. Which as you can see are a bit too large, not only in proportion but also when it comes to actually attaching to the ShinyDOLL Fragille wrist socket thingies. Maybe they'd fit with a ShinyDOLL Thaasa though?

For Our Daily Challenge- topic 'Strength.' We don't often think about the power of sound. I recently got this bell at a yard sale and this morning a chant by Vietnamese monk Thich Nhat Hanh rings the bell for me. The power of mindfull prayer, the ringing of the bell of Peace. The strength of the simple wish for the end of all suffering.

'THE GREAT BELL CHANT –

SIMPLE WISH, THE END OF SUFFERING'

- by Thich Nhat Hanh

May the sound of this bell penetrate deep into the cosmos

Even in the darkest spots living beings are able to hear it clearly

so that all suffering in them ceases,

understanding comes to their heart

and they transcend the path of sorrow and death

The universal dharma door is already open

The sound of the rising tide is heard clearly

The miracle happens : a beautiful child

appears in the heart of a lotus flower

One single drop of this compassionate water

is enough to bring back the refreshing spring

to our mountains and rivers

Listening to the bell I feel the afflictions in me begin to dissolve

My mind calms, my body relaxes

A smile is born on my lips

Following the sound of the bell my breath brings me back

to the safe island of mindfullness

In the garden of my heart the flowers of peace bloom beautifully

Here is the chant. This is more powerful when heard

"Daddy, take my hand in yours and you'll see,

How much I need you now to love and care for me.

As my little hand grows, I will need you even more,

Everything I do in life, I have never done before.

Teach me to be kind and loving, sharing and forgiving,

Show me through your acts of love, the pure joy of living.

The years will pass by quickly and one day I will be grown,

I will pass what you taught me onto children of my own.

Hold me always in your thought and remember when we're apart,

The special love between a child and a daddy's heart."

This project took sometime to complete, but I'm very proud of this photo because it explains a little bit about who I am. I think it is a great use of shallow depth of field as well.

WIT - a last-minute rush here, I'm afraid.

The title is "Left-handed" because I am right-handed and so is my camera...

Ardennenoffensief

Battle of Ardennen

In the period from December 16, 1944 to January 25, 1945, the last major offensive of the German Wehrmacht and the Waffen SS took place in the Belgian Ardennes. This battle was ultimately won by the Allies.

But… the bad weather in December 1944 provided cover for the German troops against the supreme Allied air force. It also made the roads of the Ardennes virtually impassable. The offensive led to tensions between the British and the Americans. The planned Allied attacks on the German Rhineland were postponed for six weeks.

Both Germans and Americans suffered heavy losses from tanks and men. The battle resulted in the Eastern Front being neglected by the Germans, and the Red Army faced Berlin in late January.

A statue of St Michael the archangel guards the grave of Viscount Bridport at the church in Cricket St Thomas in Somerset.

General Alexander Nelson Hood, 1st Viscount Bridport, 4th Duke of Bronté was a soldier and later a courtier for Prince Albert, then Queen Victoria and Edward VII. He was the great nephew of Horatio Nelson. Although he was buried in the churchyard of the Cricket St Thomas estate, by the time of his death in 1904, Bridport had sold the house and grounds.

Rather discoloured now, the large white statue has at times been laid flat on the grave to avoid scaring visitors to the church.

Some of you remember my friend Chris's house under construction, now almost complete.

The house is pretty much hand made by Chris and few works for him.

I just love this Brazilian red wood siding! so detailed.

PCA246 - Body Parts

Image tag: pca246

Sunday, March 3 to Sunday, March 17, 2013

For this assignment you are to capture an image of a body part. Whether an ear, an eye, elbow or toe, be creative with your composition and lighting. You can be your own model or you can find someone else. Remember, this is family oriented group, so let's keep it clean.

WIT:

I had this idea in my head a long time ago so this was the perfect time to try this.

I used my son and husband as models.

From a pattern by Catherine Butterworth published in "Down Under Quilts" late last year. It is entirely hand pieced except for the last thin straight borders. I used The Marti Mitchell "H " template set to cut each piece and stitched point to point along a marked seam line.

Jay's hand developed in caffenol.
