Holding hands is a natural and simple way of showing affection. I am robbed of this pleasure in public if there are any heterosexuals I do not know around. Due to being brought up in a Christian, anti-gay environment I can not hold hands with Jerry in public. I try, but I get all clamming & frightened. Even with over 50% of the people in Provincetown being gay and a lot of them holding hands...I could not. Jerry wanted to, and I tried for a few minutes, but seeing the way some people were looking at us made be break the hold. I just knew they were going to attack us or call us names...at least I knew it in my mind! I love holding Jerry's hand!!

I uploaded a version of this to my stream a couple of weeks ago, but it was so perfect for this theme I had to use it. I have edited it a bit and gone with a black and white version this time. It is a sculptured chair from our Botanical gardens that has arms, legs and even a head. The previous image and an outtake are in comments.

These beautifully carved masks are the creation of the people of Boruca, Costa Rica, master carvers from an indigenous reserve in the rain forest. The masks are carved in native woods and painted w/brightly colored acrylics. This is the 12th year they have been exhibited at the Payne Mansion Museum at the Selby Gardens. Proceeds represent 60% of the carvers' annual income. They have become a collector's item and sell very quickly.

A garage sale purchase of an elegant imitation glass lotion bottle.

Purchased yesterday, gone today.

The thing parted at all the thinner "joints" between each lens. Another shot that would benefit from an animated .gif explaining what the before looked like.

Cheers.

The car drives itself. The passengers are being chauffeured by computer.

Seen at the VAIL autonomous driving and parking demonstration at Stanford this weekend.

Here’s a short video of this VW parking itself.

The roof if festooned with spinning LIDAR and cameras, feeding into the server farm in the trunk. With more processing power, I’m guessing that the expensive laser rangefinders will be less essential as the 2D video cameras alone can render a 3D map of the world, much like our brain.

In case you’re wondering, they do have an idea of how to hide all of that equipment, and with Moore’s Law, it will all be soon affordable. Example video with no people in the car.

The next generation may wonder why we wasted 80% of the carrying capacity of our highways, why truckers fell asleep, or what all the fuss was about parallel parking.

My son, coloring the menu at McMenemin's on the Columbia. I love the view of his fingers. He was born with Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, and his larger fingers are magic to me. They have been kissed a million and five times.

I've been working at a lumber yard for a year, now. My first job. I've had a lot of cuts, bruises, splinters...my hands are pretty beat up and calloused, now. I also play guitar, so that adds to the callouses...and I bite my nails. That helps nothing. :P Didn't do any editing to this photo, it took me forever to be able to aim the camera right, so I finally gave up and picked this one to toss up on Flickr. ;)
