Person's hands held together with rope against black background. The concept of freedom and human rights. Violence and social problems.
These are the hands of an entrepreneur. A homeless entrepreneur. A man who is a skilled soapmaker, with no means to produce it. Somewhere there is a place where Hilton could thrive at his craft and get off the street. I met Hilton at the corner of Adams and Wells, sitting by the street light. He said, "I'm Hilton, like the hotel (I wish I had the money of Hilton)". He's been out here for ten years. He sleeps on the street, but he said there are fewer and fewer places to sleep. A lot of places are blocked off now. He went into a fast food place across the street and they made him leave. "People discriminate against us", he said. He describes himself as an entrepreneur. "If I had the money, I would build a place for homeless people". He and his friend Tim help other homeless folks out too. As far as what he needs he said, maybe a tent, but, "they don't let you put up tents on the street". He likes art and creative things, and he knows how to make soap. He can buy soap-making supplies, but he doesn't have a place to make it. He was a positive guy and said that, "if people are nice to you, it can make a world of difference".
A girl I was in a relationship a while back read palms. I really cannot remember what she saw in mine. She now works for me. Her fiance also works for me. Funny how things work out. Is it awkward? Not as much as you would think. Everything is fine and I treat them no differently as I would anyone else.
It's tough living in a small community and being a supervisor. You really can't hang out with your employees and it's tough to meet new people around here. What can you do?

I've been sewing my butt off (ha, if only!), making tutus for the biz. I now have a moderate stack. Hurrah!
Hand made by my mom as a Christmas gift
This series started as I was putting away my Christmas decorations and thought "oh, some of these would make good photos to post next year". That turned into a shoot lasting three evenings and creating around 10 gigs of images.
This was an educational (if slightly grueling) process that helped me learn a bit more about still life, lighting and macro shooting.

We had a great time photographing Chris and Stephanie's wedding day. My prayer is that they get to spend many moments holding hands.

You love me but you don't know who I am
I'm torn between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don't know who I am
So let me go, just let me go

Hope you guys will all cut me some slack, and not give me up for being so slow in here lately! Things have just been crazy, what with Shane & Kayla's wedding this past Monday, and Joel & Maggie will tie the knot in October! I need to be three people just to keep up! :)
Thank you ALL for your continued comments, thoughts, and support!
HUGS!
