A statue of St Michael the archangel guards the grave of Viscount Bridport at the church in Cricket St Thomas in Somerset.
General Alexander Nelson Hood, 1st Viscount Bridport, 4th Duke of Bronté was a soldier and later a courtier for Prince Albert, then Queen Victoria and Edward VII. He was the great nephew of Horatio Nelson. Although he was buried in the churchyard of the Cricket St Thomas estate, by the time of his death in 1904, Bridport had sold the house and grounds.
Rather discoloured now, the large white statue has at times been laid flat on the grave to avoid scaring visitors to the church.

"Daddy, take my hand in yours and you'll see,
How much I need you now to love and care for me.
As my little hand grows, I will need you even more,
Everything I do in life, I have never done before.
Teach me to be kind and loving, sharing and forgiving,
Show me through your acts of love, the pure joy of living.
The years will pass by quickly and one day I will be grown,
I will pass what you taught me onto children of my own.
Hold me always in your thought and remember when we're apart,
The special love between a child and a daddy's heart."
Someday they'll find your small town world on a big town avenue
Gonna make you like the way they talk
When they're talking to you
Gonna make you break out of your shell
'Cause they tell you to
Gonna make you like the way they lie
Better than the truth
They'll tell you everything you wanted someone else to say
They're gonna break your heart, yeah
From what I've seen
You're just one more hand me down
'Cause no one's tried to give you
What you need
So lay all your troubles down
I am with you now
Somebody oughta take you in
Try to make you love again
Try to make you like the way they feel
When they're under your skin
Never once do you think that they would lie
When they're holding you
Then you wonder why they haven't called
When they said they'd call you
You'll start to wonder
If you're ever gonna make it by
You'll start to think
You were born blind
From what I've seen
You're just one more hand me down
'Cause no one's tried to give you
What you need
So lay all your troubles down
I am with you now
I'm here for the hard times
The straight to your heart times
When living ain't easy
You can stand up against me
And maybe rely on me
And cry on me, yeah
Oh no, no, no
Someday they'll open up your world
Shake you down to the drawing board
They'll do their best to change you
They still can't erase you
From what I've seen
You're just one more hand me down
'Cause no one's tried to give you
What you need
So lay all your troubles down
I am with you now
Lay them down on me
Oh yeah
You're just one more hand me down
And all those nights
Don't give you what you need
So lay all your troubles down
On me
PCA246 - Body Parts
Image tag: pca246
Sunday, March 3 to Sunday, March 17, 2013
For this assignment you are to capture an image of a body part. Whether an ear, an eye, elbow or toe, be creative with your composition and lighting. You can be your own model or you can find someone else. Remember, this is family oriented group, so let's keep it clean.
WIT:
I had this idea in my head a long time ago so this was the perfect time to try this.
I used my son and husband as models.

Some of you remember my friend Chris's house under construction, now almost complete.
The house is pretty much hand made by Chris and few works for him.
I just love this Brazilian red wood siding! so detailed.

Me holding her hand. Her hands are puffy because IVs make you bloat like crazy with all the water weight you retain. The cuffs are so she doesn't reflexively, unconsciously yank out any of her tubes. This was my desktop background for a while.
The cutest pony ever :)
Her muzzle fits in the cup of my hand and she (remember that I'm roughly 6ft. tall) only comes up to my hip...the tip of her ear anyway...:)
Malcolm the Molecule is a regular member of the Groovehoops ensemble, as well as a frequent guest at Miss Saturn's burlesque shows. He is a truly amazing performer, and he does things with a hula hoop that leave the rest of the community catching up. He's also a painter, and painting his face and body is a new line of fusion he's been thinking about lately.
He's one of the wandering performers tonight at a Red Bull celebration of art, dance, and culture. Their Ascension '06 party at the Brooklyn Sugar Factory in Williamsburg is a randomy night of discovery, art, good fun, and provocation in music, fashion, dance, underground culture, and just plain glorious oddness.
This is Ascension's first time in New York City. I first ran across Red Bull's rambling mysterious brand of party-time in Austin this year, when I became a great fan of the Red Bull Safe House. In fact, a couple of pieces from down there appear up here in Williamsburg.
Early in the evening there's a cheese-and-veggies spread for the kick-off party. I wander by with camera in hand; Malcolm obliges. I'm here shooting tonight with New York Cool.
