"Midnight, where we used to dance; underneath the ugly halogen lamps. All I want went away so fast, in a black-out"

the light around the Pandit is just a halogen light behind him! ;o)

Varanasi.

The indoor halogen lighting in the supermarket foyer wasn't up to par so I had to make do with what I had.

[Reposting an older image that I had purged in a fit of housekeeping]

You can't have a light without a dark to stick it in.

Macro Mondays: bulb

Halogen bulb on silver glitter paper. Frame is 2.125" across. Head on, the bulb bowl is just under 2" across.

The filament of a halogen bulb.

A halogen light bulb behind protective glass. The image is 2 inches wide. Love the light from this light but it gets so hot!

My dog, Zuki, at night at the end of a parking lot under the light of a full moon and a halogen light. The postprocessing involved warping in Photoshop and layering effects. The title comes from the full moon behind her and her shadow looking like a howling wolf.

And the stage is set with a perfect spotlight...from overhead street halogens :-)

Another shot I took with the Technology Competition in mind. Just a halogen bulb sitting on a mirror. I desaturated it, then added a colour filter to give it the slightly bronze flavour.

This is a broken halogen bulb from an uplighter lamp. There's less than 2 inches on show.

I've used my Nikon Z6ii with a Nikkor 105mm macro lens with a 1.4 teleconverter. Two LED video lights have been used for highlights.

In celebration of man's modern achievement. During Earth Hour 2009, I turned on every light in my house. Both of my cars are idle. A ball of 6 strains of 100 professional outdoor Christmas lights hooked together with 6 balls of 100 lights each surrounding it. To top it off, a 600 watt halogen light pointing at the front door.

Sorry, it isn't as good as I want. I should have exposed another .5 or 1 stop.

My pan can also be used on a halogen hob according to this symbol on the bottom.

I had to look up what it means, apparently it's not used much anymore.

So the old halogen lights were replaced a few years ago with these LEDs....not near as impressive at night but a huge power saving.

Today I received a present: new yellow halogen bulbs for my 1987 Peu 305 Break GR. Now my car looks more French as it ever was...

Dank Wouter!

The 305 was launched in November 1977 as a 4-door saloon. The 5-door Break (estate version) arrived in March 1980.

A facelift was executed in July 1982 with the Phase II version.

The Peugeot 305 series replaced the 304. It was the first of the 05-generation.

Production of the 305 saloon ceased in 1988, one year earlier than the break version.

The 305 series was designed at Pininfarina studios.

Captured in DNG, edited in Lightroom. Applied the Daylight Halogen camera profile.

Stuff used: halogen lamp, red-yellow filter, the shape for baking cakes.

Changing a halogen headlight in sub-zero temps is less “basic maintenance” and more “Arctic survival challenge.”

You pop the hood and immediately regret every decision that led you here. The cold hits your hands like they owe it money. The plastic housing has the structural integrity of a saltine cracker. The bulb? A fragile little diva that can’t be touched with bare fingers—convenient, since you can’t feel them anyway.

You try to twist the socket. It does not twist. You negotiate. It does not negotiate.

Somewhere between losing a clip in the snow and Googling “is one headlight legally fine,” you achieve enlightenment. Or hypothermia. Hard to tell.

Then—miracle of miracles—it clicks into place.

You slam the hood, climb back into the car, and blast the heat like you’ve just conquered Everest.

All that… for a headlight.
