This 2011 Ford Crown Victoria belongs to the Borough of Verona Police Department. This is their last Crown Victoria, while the rest of their fleet is the new Ford Police Interceptor Utilities. It is equipped with a Whelen Liberty light bar and a single halogen spotlight. The unit is kept inside when not in service. The reflective tape is neat, for it is one piece across while most of them split back across the rear. Since the last time I have seen this unit, they have added grille lights.
As the photographer in the family, I have the job of photographing items to be sold on the family business website www.thegeniescave.co.uk or on eBay. There is quite a bit of variety (if you think about what might be found in a cave belonging to a genie!) and I quite enjoy doing it.
This image was taken using a small light tent illuminated by a pair of halogen lamps of the type commonly found in bathroom or kitchen ceilings.

Another view of patent no GB190016031 on my 1923 Royal Sunbeam, showing the circular-section lever supported by two bearings. Note the lack of any visible springs, though I think there are some concealed in the end-piece, which has a screw on the front.
Note also that on Sunbeams the rear brake is on the right, the front on the left, the reverse of usual practice, at least in Britain.

A direct comparison of the imaged spectrum of an unfiltered tungsten-halogen lamp (2850K) - top and a daylight LED (LED-Lenser-TT). The LED has an enhanced blue emission and emits very little near infrared radiation.
The spectra are extracted from the data shown in the previous posts.
Well for now anyway.......
Bringing this series of shots of matches to a close with one last go using continuous lighting, rather than flash. For this, the flash has been replaced with a 15W halogen desklamp. Great to be able to see what you are doing, but useless for freezing movement, or capturing the smoke of a freshly lit match :)
Even so, it does a nice job of adding some light to the match itself so the flame doesnt look like it is in mid air.
Not the most exciting of images, but being a simple person, I like my images that way too ;-)
For anybody that might be interested you will find the setup used for this below.

Taken for Active Assignment Weekly - Like a Painting
My two submissions this week are very similar, so I hope you can tell me which you prefer. All I could think of when I was considering making a photo look like a painting was a still life of fruit, sorry if it's not very original.
WIT: Set up the fruit on a cutting board, lit with a single halogen and a homemade snoot out of construction paper.
In CS4 did some cloning and used a texture provided by ghostbones (Thank you very much!)
These halogen automobile bulbs (except for the T10 on the photo) are no match to LED Bulbs that are stronger/brighter, way more energy efficient and last 50,000 hours.
Using Halogen based non projector headlights, we painted all pieces black, including the high beam housing since it is no longer needed. The new projector does low and high beam function. RGB Angel Eyes are controlled via RF Remote, and DRL Strip is wiring into the parking lights.

Chlorine - is a yellowish green, very reactive and toxic gas. It is a second member of group 17 (formally group 7) elements, the Halogens. It will react with almost all metals and some non-metals (not air).

TABLE LAMP XVI
The lamp is made of Senegalese gourd.
It is the first lamp where halogen light bulb was used (more technical information can be found on INFO page). Thanks to this the light patterns on the walls are more clear and more details are visible.
White carved circles are deeper layer of wood which allows some light to pass through it. At the top of the lamp there is closing part locked with little magnets. The base is finished with brown jeweller waxed string.
The diameters of the gourd are 18 and 21cm. The lamp is 35cm high. The diameter of the base is 24cm.
It's been two months since my motorcycle accident. My most-damaged leg has healed very well, so that now my only remaining problem seems related to DVT: if I sit in my desk chair for too long, I get swelling. That's pretty manageable with a smaller coffee cup.
Right now the ugly part is a scant 2" long, which is much better than the 10" it was at first. I think eventually the injury will be almost invisible.
I have taken some photos all along, and have hidden them in a secret set. The earliest ones are damn gory, so they are kept out of sight. If you want to see them, click here for a guest pass. I have arranged the photos so that the newest are first. When you get queasy: stop. Seriously, stop. But if you do puke, take a photo! LOL!
This is my two hundred fifty fifth self portrait for 365 Days. The number 255 has a special place in my heart, being the largest number represented by 8 bits. Ahhhh... once a hacker, always a hacker.

Decided to swap over to halogen bulbs again with the darker days being ahead of us. Also was done with the error message on my display when using LED bulbs.
The light image has improved, which is the main concern.

hope this one works for use as it works for me - still life is not one of my better topics but I do love a challenge and anything to increase my knowledge is great
my lot consist very much of shells, shells and more shell and a coulpe other bits and piecs so I had to choose shells to put with my sea siren - maybe i should have grabbed a bit of seaweed (no...?)
anyway here is my attempt at an Old Master composition with pale yellow and blue side lighting as well as LED overhead lighting and halogen cabin lights with and old sheet for a background - what do you think?

In a small number of cars the wiring harness in the halogen headlamp may be inadequately crimped. This can result in the dipped beam not coming on.
This is an exempt from the original TSB text. However, looking at what i have found on my car (that happened to be one of these "small number of cars affected") i would mark this TSB as essential for the safety, because the overheating wire bundle may be source of electrical fire. Please see the attached picture with the old connector vs. the replacement one.
On my car the insulation close to the bulb fixture was completely burnt and many of the wire strands were already oxidized and damaged by heat.
According to the original TSB, it is necessary to remove the headlight (so the front bumper shell) to rectify the fault, but i've managed to do this with the headlamp in place. A bit tricky and you need to have small hands, but definitely possible.

Unifying our House, the doorhandles, rotary dimmers, wall halogen lights, sliding-doors, office-chairs, washbasins, tub and toilets feature round dot-like recesses – the signature mark appearing on every piece of the BSSR House design.
The componibili container - BY Kartell - did easily find its place in BSSR House bathrooms. Flexible, functional, practical. Componibili is a design classic with a long tradition, that thanks to its conciseness and innovation received international attention, and is long since admired in permanent exhibitions of the MoMA in New York and the Centre George Pompidou in Paris.
Excuse the awful lighting it's late at night and I have halogens, but when you succeeded in getting two dolls to stand in a very dancerly pose without killing each other, you take a picture.
Proof that Moe and A-line are equally good posers if you are patient enough and if you "listen" to their individual bodies.
Aislinn on the active body has the slight tilt her hip joint gives her (its a great joint but I just wish it had a wider range) Mackenzie is more rigid looking. But in either case I found (like in my own body) many "problems" be they ache knees or a refusal to balance actually originate in the hips.
(They are still at it)
Also check out their weird shadows.
This is an experiment performed to illustrate William Herschel's discovery in 1800 of what we now call near-infrared radiation. At the time, Herschel called it "radiant heat". Since the angular dispersion of the spectrum with wavelength decreases towards the red with a glass prism, the interpretation of Herschel's results is more complex that he was then able to realise.
A 300µm wide slit was constructed from two razor-blades and mounted in a 35mm slide mount. An image of this slit was projected onto a white screen at a distance of about 2m using a Leica slide projector. In order to capture the full infrared spectrum of the quartz-halogen projector lamp, the light blue heat absorbing filter was temporarily removed from the optical path just before the slide.
A full-spectrum converted digital camera using the Leica Summicron 90mm f/2 lens was manually focussed onto the slit image. A 60° flint glass prism was then inserted between the projector and the screen to produce a dispersed image of the slit with the prism set at minimum deviation.
The two images shown above were constructed from exposures taken with (top) and without (bottom) a Kolari hot-mirror filter which converts the modified camera into a normal RGB colour imager. The infrared radiation from the projector lamp appears as the yellow-through pink extension to the red end of the lower spectrum. This is where Herschel placed one of his thermometers to detect the heating effects of the invisible sunlight beyond the visible red end of the spectrum.
The apparent colour of the infrared part of the spectrum beyond the visible range is determined by the infrared leaks through each of the different (blue, green and red) Bayer mask filters over the pixel array of the CMOS detector of the camera. Note that the removal of the heat blocking filter in the projector resulted in the melting of the plastic slide mount containing the slit! But it lasted long enough to collect the images!

The lamp contains a standard incandescent bulb or halogen lamp ... [below a] glass bottle containing water (often with glycerol derived additive) and a ...mix of wax and carbon tetrachloride ... The wax is slightly denser than water at room temperature but is less dense under warmer conditions. This occurs because wax expands more than water when both are heated. When heated, the wax becomes fluid, its specific gravity decreases, and blobs of wax ascend to the top of the device where they cool and then descend. A metallic wire coil in the base of the bottle acts as a surface tension breaker to recombine the cooled blobs of wax after they descend.
