This one also uses pieces from the upholstery fabric swatch book. For this one, I used more traditional piecing technique (stitch right sides together, then fold down and press the seams) and added some decorative top-stitching on the seams. However, I'm still learning the fancy stitches on my machine, and didn't notice until I was done with 3 of them that I had the wrong setting (no big deal, it just meant I wasn't getting the stitches I had intended). Again, not quite square/rectangular (even though for this one, I cut the fabric to the same shape as the pre-cut paper!). Live and learn. Maybe attempt #3 will have square corners! [Also, the greens are prettier in real life - the scanner brought out more brown.]

Not quite square!
I have this book of upholstery fabric swatches. I used the ends with the care labels on them because that paper (?) added an element of stiffness. I stitched them together using decorative stitches on the machine, then I stitched the whole thing to a leftover scrap of heavyweight matte printer paper. Not quite fully rectangular, is it? But not bad for a first try!
