Description
There is no more "organic" combination of colors for me then this. Two of my favorite stones, combined together in this 18 inches long necklace.
Green kyanite has very unique look - it's not bright green, but it shimmers from withing with warm glow.
Smoky quartz is absolutely perfect in almost any combination, it is grounding and reassuring.

The "Longone" already stripped four days after it's grounding on the rocks of Spirit's Bay, NZ.
According to the Northland Ages report on January 28th, 2010:
While the owner of this yacht tried to deliver people to the Spirits Bay Beach, gusty winds and a large swell sealed the fate of "The Longone".
And to add insult to injury, only one person on the beach offered assistance. No sooner was the yacht grounded on the rocks, did other by-standers immediately start looting. Taking anything from electronics to clothing and food. The paper goes on to compare the looters like locusts grabbing everything.
No one was injured and the yacht was insured and this is the important thing.
Another story was published in the same newspaper on February 7, 2010 with another side to the story from people on the beach. There is now contradiction to the original story and the chain of events.

Long gone and damaged beyond repair, grounded at Spirits Bay surrounded by conflict and controversy. Anyway you look at it, sad to see her sitting amongst the rocks.

These NMDs were bought from a friend in Europe. They are wonderfully broken in, both the soles and the uppers.
They are a bit large, so my big toes don't line up with the toe holes in the uppers until I slide my feet a bit forward. The soles are prefect however, the real grounding feel. Good for long walks.

4 October 2006. Seatruck freight ferry “Riverdance” (1977/116 metres/6,041 grt), off Greenore, outbound to Heysham. Subsequently scrapped after grounding in adverse weather.
“On 31 January 2008, the Bahamas registered ro-ro cargo vessel, Riverdance, grounded and became stranded on the Shell Flats, off Cleveleys Beach, Lancashire. The prevailing severe weather conditions prevented the vessel from being refloated, and subsequent attempts to salvage her failed. Riverdance was finally cut up in-situ. Fortunately, the crew were all safely recovered and there was no pollution. The following is a summary of the main causal factors and key events that were identified during the investigation: • The true weights and the disposition of the vessel’s cargo were not known. • The stability of Riverdance was not calculated before sailing from Warrenpoint. • Ballast was never adjusted regardless of cargo or expected weather. • The vessel was known to be tender. • Some openings on the weather deck were not closed off in anticipation of the expected poor weather. • The vessel was proceeding in following seas at a speed slightly slower than that of the following wave train. Under these circumstances, a reduction in the vessel’s stability can occur and more pronounced rolling can be experienced. • As the vessel approached more shallow waters, the seas became steeper and rolling increased further. This resulted in a small shift of cargo to port. • The vessel sustained a series of large rolls to port which caused additional trailers and their contents to shift. • In an attempt to bring the vessel’s head into the wind, the master decided to make a broad alteration to starboard. This exacerbated the port heel causing the deck edge to immerse, possibly allowing water to enter the vessel through openings on her weather deck. Ingress of water would have further reduced the vessel’s residual stability. • The port main engine tripped due to the excessive list and, with only one engine, there was not enough power to bring the ships head into the wind. The vessel lay beam on to the wind and seas, rolling heavily with a large list to port as she drifted towards shallow water. The weather deck on the port side continued to be intermittently immersed. • The vessel took the ground and returned to an almost upright position. An attempt was made to redistribute the ballast to compensate for the expected port list once she refloated on the rising tide. • Because the disposition of the weights on board the vessel was unknown, the amount of ballast transferred was based on the master’s estimate. The owner’s shore based crisis management team did not have access to accurate stability information. Had this been available, they would have been able to provide better support to the master. • Attempts to use the engines to refloat the vessel were unsuccessful and resulted in Riverdance drifting closer to the shore. • Riverdance grounded again and began to roll progressively more heavily to starboard until she came to rest on her starboard bilge. During this period the vessel lost all power and the crew were evacuated” - official accident report on 3 September 2009.

Gross National Happiness
The Bhutanese grounding in Buddhist ideals suggests that beneficial development of human society takes place when material and spiritual development occur side by side to complement and reinforce each other. The term "gross national happiness", a concept of a quantitative measurement of well-being and happiness, was coined in 1972 by Bhutan's fourth Dragon King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, who has opened Bhutan to the age of modernization. The four pillars of gross national happiness are the promotion of sustainable development, preservation and promotion of cultural values, conservation of the natural environment, and establishment of good governance.
In a 2007 study from University of Leicester, Bhutan ranked eighth out of 178 countries in Subjective Well-Being, a metric of happiness that has been used by many psychologists. In fact, it is the only country in the top 20 "happiest" countries that has a very low GDP.

Success! We started the day with a sail up to the Jakobshaven Isbrae ice field, created by the grounding of icebergs from the glacier against a recessional moraine. The glacier itself "flows" approximately 38m per day. However it only calves every 2 - 3 weeks according to local knowledge. This combination - fast flow rates and long periods between calving events results in very large bergs being discharged - see some of the attached photos!
Everyone except the scientists then boarded zodiacs and went off for a walk onshore. This freed the vessel up for us to take her into ice free waters, and tackle the engine noise issue. We deployed the hydrophone streamer and worked for about an hour with the captain and engineers, finally finding the optimum settings for running the vessel - speed, rpm and pitch of the propeller - with the least disturbance to our acoustics. We then started a trail line and ran for 43 minutes. Amazingly we picked a really interesting area and got some incredible results - multiple infilled channels, 250m of sediment deposition, sediment slumping and buried moraines.
After returning to pick up the rest of the voyagers, we started a second line, running for two hours parallel to the terminal moraine and ice field front. Again with spectacular results considering the engine noise issues we continue to battle. Interest had been raised having seen my roughly interpreted first profile, and the container had a constant stream of people wanting to see what we were doing and listen to the seismic returns from the hydrophone. Both the film crew and Quentin Cooper interview us and ask for detailed explanations about the equipment and principles behind what we are doing. I'm not sure what they said on their return to the nice warm bar but we then get numerous other people tentatively knocking at the container door and asking us to explain the profile.
This has been a good day. Not only have Dave and I managed to get two interesting profiles under our belt, but we have begun to raise interest amongst the artists onboard as to how they could take our work and incorporate it into theirs.

For the last 5,000 years, male sky gods like Zeus and Yahweh have dominated both the Earth and most human cultures. Both religious and secular warriors have been our role models for "manhood."
This painting shows the evolution of "masculinity" away from violence and domination toward peace and spirituality. We see the transformation of the male into the Green Man, the Nature deity who has died and been resurrected in endless cycles throughout human history.
The modern Green Man returns, in partnership with his female counterpart, as an empowering image of the potential within all men to help rejuvenate and nurture our Mother Earth.
