This multimeter is set to measure resistance in ohms, and as can be seen, there is very little resistance between the grounding pin of this computer and its metal case. In fact, the two are wired directly to each other. When the computer is plugged in, the grounding pin is wired ultimately to a pipe sunk into the ground.

This has two important purposes. The first is that in many devices, there are wiring connections that have a high potential difference (voltage difference) from ground. If any of these were to fail and accidentally let the wire touch the outside of the machine, the electricity could flow into the next person who touched it (because they would have a different voltage than the case.)

If this happened with a device with a grounding pin, the electricity would automatically flow into the ground, which would have a difference in voltage (electric potential) from the energized wire. This would result in a large current, and hopefully trip any circuit breakers.

It's really important to not try and defeat the grounding pin.

A heavily shielded, 1/8" thick chassis, brass connectors, and stainless steel grounding bolts. Switch uses all soldered connections wired internally with copper strap hardwiring (no PC board), standard rating 7,500 Watts PEP / ICS, insulation rating of poles and relay armatures 2000VAC, switching time 11ms., usable up to 500 feet from feed voltage source, 50 / 75 ohms, 0.1 db insertion loss, DC-30 MHz . Unit contains a resistive heating element which may be switched on and off from the control source or left on 24 hours per day, keeping the relays and chassis housing warm and dry -- even in harsh environments. Rated for indoor / outdoor service, flat surface mounting (tower plates, bulkhead ground frames, floors, roof or vertical wall).

I'm sorry to note that Industrial Communications Engineers (ICE) owner Mike Koss, W9SU, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011. He was 57. According to his friend Brian Smith, W9IND, Koss was found on his workshop floor and paramedics were unable to revive him. - 31MAR2011

Rocked Regalia Openable Bullet Necklace on stainless steel chain.

These NMDs were bought from a friend in Europe. They are wonderfully broken in, both the soles and the uppers.

They are a bit large, so my big toes don't line up with the toe holes in the uppers until I slide my feet a bit forward. The soles are prefect however, the real grounding feel. Good for long walks.

Icelandair Boeing 737-8MAX TF-ICE departing from 23R at Manchester back in 2018.

c/n 44353 first flew at Renton on the 7th February 2018 before being delivered to Icelandair and registered TF-ICE. The aircraft was stored at Keflavik on the 12th March 2019 due to the max grounding before being flown south for the winter and stored at Lleida-Alguaire on the 16th of October 2019. Current. The Dutch crane barge grounded at Walmer

The stone is cold beneath my pads, rough and unyielding, grounding me to the spine of the world.

I pause here, where the treeline breaks and the earth rises into jagged granite, and I turn. The wind is different up here—wilder, sharper. It combs through the thick guard hairs on my shoulder, carrying the scent of things miles away: the damp rot of fallen logs, the sharp resin of pine, and the clean, metallic tang of snow waiting in the clouds above.

Below me, the valley stretches out like a vast, green bowl. I can hear the river, a distant, rushing murmur as it carves its way through the spruce and fir. It is the blood of this land, cold and relentless, just as I am its breath and bone.

The sky is heavy today. Storm clouds bruise the horizon, swirling in shades of slate and charcoal, threatening the quiet. But then, the ceiling of the world fractures. Shafts of pale, golden light pierce the gloom, spilling onto the valley floor and warming the fur on my back. It is a fleeting touch, a reminder that the sun still watches, even when the winter shadow draws near.

I look back not out of fear—there is nothing in these woods that I fear—but out of knowing. I am checking the wind, reading the story written in the air. My ears twitch, swiveling to catch the snap of a twig or the cry of a raven, but there is only the silence of the high country.

I am the weight on the ridge. I am the silence between the trees.

For a moment, I stand still, letting the light paint my coat, feeling the immense, quiet power of the mountains echoing the beat of my own heart. This is my domain. The storm will come, the snow will bury the stones, but I will remain.

With a low, rumbling breath that clouds in the chill air, I turn my head away from the valley. The path ahead is steep, but my legs are strong. I move on, into the mist, carrying the wild with me.

The combination of my clothes and my chair has resulted in frequent static shocks. A grounding strap was the perfect solution

Some days

(Like today)

The mirror is too harsh a critic

Too loud a voice

Too real a reflection

Of the vision of

Myself

In my mind’s eye where I am:

Nothing good

Nothing worthy

Nothing at all.

Looking at

Myself

Feels like

Nothing I can do.

But still

I can see

Myself

In the reflection of a backlit screen

In the reflection of my friends’ love

In the reflection of the winter rain

And know

This too will pass.

I will be

Enough

Again.
