Several processes for designing educational graphics have been proposed and in the next few slide we will address some actions and tools for graphics in a model proposed by Linda Lohr in her book Creating Graphics for Learning and Performance.
The first step requires that you consider what the graphic will be used to achieve. This is no different than the first step in planning any other unit of instruction - teachers must consider the objective before proceeding with designing the learning.
When creating a graphic you should be guided by principles that have been established through well-grounded research. In many readings and other materials you will become familiar with the principles expounded by Richard Mayer so I won't repeat them here.
Finally after deploying any unit of learning we must evaluate it for effectiveness, efficiency and appeal. Like the first step in this process, this applies to all units of education, not just graphics.

AS Graphic Communication, Unit 1 (updated version, 2016).
I chose the title 'Splendid Isolation' from the range of titles to respond to for my book cover design. I wanted to communicate the message of isolation in an abstract way by placing an individual square in an empty space, surrounded by a crowd of other squares, representing people. My initial idea of this came from an experimental paper-crafting exercise using tracing paper.
Skylights and main gaming room of casino. The skylights were 30' in diameter and were fabricated and installed on location. The faux stained glass graphic was generated in photo shop and printed on back lit Duratrans film, applied to acrylic panels to appear as real Tiffany glass lights. This process made them substantially lighter and less expensive than actual stained glass.
