Albus the Crab at the Clement Oak. This tree has been alive since the late 16th century. It was also the site of the landing of the first aerial flight in America. President George Washington watched as Jean-Pierre Blanchard took off in a balloon from Philadelphia. Blanchard carried a letter from President Washington to be delivered to whomever owned the property where the balloon landed, thus making this the first delivery of air mail as well. Looking over the old 1812-era saltpeter mines with 200-year old wood perfectfly preserved by the cave. Mammoth Cave is the longest known cave system in the world with over 400 miles of tunnels mapped. It was carved over over millions of years by the underground Styx and Echo rivers, which empty into the Green River. The National Corvette Museum. Founded in 1994, it showcases the history of the Corvette. It's signature Skydome was the site of a 2014 sinkhole that swallowed 8 historic cars. All 8 were recovered, but only two were fully restored. Bowling Green, Kentucky. (Nathanael Miller, 10 Dec. 2017)

Boeing B-29 "Bocks Car," which dropped the Fat Man atomic bomb on Nagasaki in August 1945. Founded in 1923, the museum is housed in four hangars on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and has more than 360 aircraft in its collection. (Nathanael Miller, 4 Dec. 2017)

It is the only musuem dedicated primarily to the armaments carried by the Air Force, and boasts a collection of over 30 aircraft (U.S. and a few foreign), as well as hundreds of examples of munitions used by aerial warfare through history. USS Utah (BB 31 / AG 16) is the *other* ship still resting in Pearl Harbor following the 1941 attack. Converted from battleship to gunnery target vessel, the ship was nonetheless attacked and hit with torpedos, capsizing it. The Navy only partially righted the ship, and 58 men still like entombed inside it. Today viistors see part of the starboard side superstructure protruding above the water. Ranger Albert Carter answers a guest's question in the McLean House. The home of Wilmer McLean was the site of Grant and Lee's meeting on April 9, 1865. The house was dismantled in the late 19th century with intent to move it to Washington, D.C., but the effort failed. Most of the house of was lost, but the bricks around the front door and a few other architectural pieces are original to the house when it was reconstrcuted in 1949. Established in 1935, the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park preserves the site of the surrender of Robert E. Lee to Ulysses S. Grant in April 1865. Appomattox, Virginia. The Jefferson Davis monument, built from 1917 - 1924, is a 351 foot obelisk. It is the tallest unreinforced concrete structure in the world, the second tallest obelisk in the world after the Washington Monument, and the fifth tallest monument in the U.S. The Jefferson Davis Monument State Historic Site commemorates the birth of Jefferson Davis in June 1808. The park and monument sit on land owned by Davis' parents; the land the cabin actually sat on is now the site of Bethel Baptist Church adjacent to the park itself. Fairview, Kentucky. Jeffers Mound is the only surviving structure left of its small complex. It was built by the Hopewell Culture about 1500 years ago, circa the 4th or 5th centuries. A series of painted post-tops mark the footprint of a Hopewell post house that was located next to the mound. Worthington, Ohio. (Nathanael Miller, 22 March 2018)

Maverick, a bald eagle. He was found in Wisconsin, his left wing broken and crippled. Unable to fly, he came to the aquarium in 2014 becuase he can no longer fly.
