We got a little color behind the spiers last night. Garden of the Gods is even more beautiful with a little snow on the rocks.
I just returned from a very fun photo adventure in Oregon with some great photos. I had a great time and captured some images that I can't wait to process.
This was one of the first locations.
I love wet sand reflections. We don't get many opportunities for these in Colorado, so I was really enjoying photographing these.
Alpenglow at Bear Lake - I just returned from a fun and active weekend at Rocky Mountain National Park with Kay. We had to get up real early to see alpenglow at Bear Lake, but it was so worth it. That beautiful warm, red glow on the peaks is one of nature's best shows.

We saw this scene as we were scouting locations for night shots. I knew it wasn't going to last long, so I was frantically driving around to find a pull out. When we finally got parked, I ran to the edge of the canyon and fired off one round of bracketed exposures.
I actually thought I had missed it because when I looked up from my camera, a lot of the rainbow had faded. Luckily, the brackets did their job and I caught the colors just before they faded away.
Software used was Macphun Luminar Get a 15% discount on Luminar with the coupon "lukezeme"
The tall basalt columns of Bombo Quarry, close to Kiama Australia. The columns themselves are hexagonal in shape and shoot up 10-15meters above you. To put things into perspective the stone in front is a little taller than a person. Shooting this location has to be one of my top 5 seascape spots in NSW. During high tide, seen in this photo, the waves crash into the columns and spray high in the air, but they also wash up on to the platform I was shooting from. This makes it a pretty dangerous location and you always need to be aware of the ocean. Since I've been around the ocean a lot I know to be ready for the "set", which is a larger set of waves that arrives every 5 minutes or so. Highly recommend this place to other photographers :-)

Mills Lake - After catching alpenglow at the trailhead, Kay and I hiked to Mills Lake. We got there just in time for a beautiful reflection and some nice soft light. About 15 minutes after we arrived the sun emerged from the clouds and a breeze erased the reflection.
I love all the benefits of starting the day early, but Kay and I are working on plans to be at the higher lakes even earlier and staying later.
