The Jefferson Davis monument, built from 1917 - 1924, is a 351 foot obelisk. It is the tallest unreinforced concrete structure in the world, the second tallest obelisk in the world after the Washington Monument, and the fifth tallest monument in the U.S. The Jefferson Davis Monument State Historic Site commemorates the birth of Jefferson Davis in June 1808. The park and monument sit on land owned by Davis' parents; the land the cabin actually sat on is now the site of Bethel Baptist Church adjacent to the park itself. Fairview, Kentucky. Mount Rainier the highest peak of the Cascade volcanoes, rising 14,411 feet above sea level. It is also considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in North America. Jeffers Mound is the only surviving structure left of its small complex. It was built by the Hopewell Culture about 1500 years ago, circa the 4th or 5th centuries. A series of painted post-tops mark the footprint of a Hopewell post house that was located next to the mound. Worthington, Ohio. (Nathanael Miller, 22 March 2018)

Maverick, a bald eagle. He was found in Wisconsin, his left wing broken and crippled. Unable to fly, he came to the aquarium in 2014 becuase he can no longer fly. North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. It is one of three North Carolina Aquarium facilities (the other two at Pine Knoll Shores and Roanoke Island). 1917 Dayton Motorwheel, (you can see the motor on the front wheel in the mirror), designed to be ridden as a bike or motorbike. The Dayton Cyclery pavillon. In 1892 the Davis Sewing Machine Company began building bicycles (and later changed its name to "Huffy"). "A Carillon Christmas" at Carillon Historical Park. The park features exhibits and buildings telling the story of Dayton from 1796 to the present day. Among the exhibits house on the park grounds are the Wright Flyer III from 1905, a section and lock from the old Miami and Eerie Canal, and a massive collection of cash registers (the cash register was invented in Dayton in 1879). Propeller from the light carrier USS Cabot (CVL 28) on display at the USS Lexington Museum. Cabot was in commission from 1943 - 1955. The Lexington is named for the previous carrier Lexington which was sunk at the 1942 Battle of the Coral Sea, USS Lexington (CV 16) was commissioned in 1943 and served until 1991. It was the last Essex-class carrier in service, and the last U.S. carrier in service from World War II. The ship became a floating museum in Corpus Christi in 1992. Corpus Christi, Texas. Mammoth Cave is the longest known cave system in the world with over 400 miles of tunnels mapped. It was carved over over millions of years by the underground Styx and Echo rivers, which empty into the Green River. Summer camp is seen through a gun port in the East Martello Tower's central citadel. Martello Gallery-Key West Art and Historical Museum is housed in the East Martello Tower near the Key West Airport. The East and West Martellow towers were small redoubts ("Martello" style architecture of small, independent forts) designed to buttress the island's defenses that were anchored at Fort Zachary Taylor. The West Martello Tower stands next to the African Cemetery on Higgs Beach and houses a small botanical garden. (Nathanael Miller, 25 July 2017)

Albus the Crab at the McLean House. The home of Wilmer McLean was the site of Grant and Lee's meeting on April 9, 1865. The house was dismantled in the late 19th century with intent to move it to Washington, D.C., but the effort failed. Most of the house of was lost, but the bricks around the front door and a few other architectural pieces are original to the house when it was reconstrcuted in 1949. Established in 1935, the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park preserves the site of the surrender of Robert E. Lee to Ulysses S. Grant in April 1865. Appomattox, Virginia. This Is Paradise mural can’t look any better

USS Ponce's Quarterdeck flags and pieces of her well deck at Huffman Prarie. Huffman Prarie Flying Field was where the Wright Brothers perfected the airplane in 1905. USS Ponce was in commission from1971 - 2017. (Nathanael Miller, 28 November 2017)

Known to the Hawaiians as Le'ahi, Diamond Head is a 300,000 year old tuff cone formed from an explosive erutpion. The crater is 3,520 feet in diameter and summits at 761 feet. The summit is the site of a lost heiau (ancient Hawaiian temple of other sacred site), and was used for coastal defense by the U.S. Army through the first half of the 20th century. Honolulu, Hawaii.
