a glimpse of Pistoia ... the belfry of the cathedral...

A shot across Bass Lake the other weekend. It was a cool Saturday afternoon before the rain blew in, and already the trees around the lake are starting to change. In another week or two the mountains will be ablaze in color! #autumn #mountaincolors #autumnvibes #mountainsarecalling

Lord Shiva, the greatest yogi and Lord of meditation, is revered in all sects of Hinduism, in all regions of India. It is traditional that every deity has a particular day of the week devoted to them and devotees observe a day of fasting and perform puja to the Lord on this day.

If you are seeking something specific from the God, it is said to observe a vrat (religious ritual) of 16 Mondays in spring season . 13thJuly was the first monday of this spring in India :)

Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy

Iceland is beautiful under every kind of weather, but I have to say that this kind of dramatic scenery is always impressive to me.

About as close to it as you can get. Hard to find a place that beats the beauty of the Tetons and Yellowstone.

Sometimes he could show a glimpse of him if he was in that social mood.

Often he stayed hidden from the light and I think he loved to live in the shadows.

This day..he was doing some music with the dark tones of stones and wood.

I really enjoyed it a lot..

For me he is that true esscence of extraterrestrials that have still got the charm...

Walking along the lake side path I catch a quick glimpse of a tall proud pine tree standing at the edge of the water. The view was obscure, a sheer drop to the lake prevented a better one beyond these aggressive overhanging branches, maybe further along. Unfortunately it was not to be, the view didn’t open up and when it did I had lost composition. I carried on to look for other things and then my time ran out. My 9:30 last call breakfast loomed and I needed than porridge and fried breakfast for the energy to tackle higher things that day. My rush back to the hotel was halted in serval places as I found new opportunities to make a photo, missed on my low light dawn approach. Again I pass the point I’d seen that tree, is there a photo? I clamber up the bank by the path to see if that little opening can deliver more. No room for a tripod the bank is steep and my position is a little shaky, I rattle off 3 exposures stretching all the time to make the most of the gap. My time is limited and I slide down the bank to carry on with my rush back to the hotel not really sure if I did make a photo.

This was our first glimpse of George Lake in Killarney Provincial Park. We had pitched our tent and made supper quickly since it threatened rain for the evening. The lake was so still! It was enough to whet my appetite for the adventures we had planned for the next 8 days in this park. It was our first visit to the park. We had many memorable firsts that week.

A perfect morning - not many of them recently, but the weather didn’t disappoint over the bank holiday weekend.

I (and I suspect many other photographers) am always watching the weather and looking for tell tale signs that give hope of good conditions. The weather leading up to Saturday morning and the forecast for the day itself said it would be an interesting morning :)

Getting up at silly o'clock and onto the hill is the easy part, but finding the composition is some kind of black magic that still has me panicking every time I go out with a camera.

I walked the edge and met a couple of bleary eyed campers enjoying the views - we stood and talked as the light improved and the mist rolled into the valley. These interactions are the things that stick in my mind the most - these people are there for the love of it all and not trying to find that perfect image. I envy the way they can just sit and watch it all unfold without the need to capture it all in one single, perfect moment.

I wandered the full length of the edge and finally I had walked as far as I could - time to head back.

As I walked back I stop and look over my shoulder and see one of the bridges peaking through the mist - in an instant I am hooked and I have my shot.

Its just a case of finding the best way to tell the story of that morning and I can go home happy. How hard can photography be?

I think will probably end up as my fave image from the weekend trip to Snowdonia. Fairly happy with a few of the images, given it's the first time I've been to this spot. It does help, as ever, if the light is right. I had to wait it out a little to get what I wanted. This one also looks good in mono, so I'll likely post that too in due course.
