No scenic backdrop here. Was walking the old dog on the beach and saw this nice moon rising behind Victoria Shipyards, with a slight glimpse of Mt. Baker in the background.

A short interruption to come back to 2023. Here is a Brown Thrasher, the first time I remember getting a clear photograph of one. Filmed at the Cruickshank Sanctuary. This one was not at all tricky to glimpse as it was singing in this dead tree. Yes I was shocked to see it and wasn't sure with the ID until I got home. I checked eBird and there have been many sightings and 12 photos posted from Cruickshank of the Brown Thrasher. Of course, I was there to see the Florida Scrub Jay, some of the few remaining live in Cruickshank scrub. I'll get back to that shortly.

It can be tricky to glimpse a Brown Thrasher in a tangled mass of shrubbery, and once you do you may wonder how such a boldly patterned, gangly bird could stay so hidden. Brown Thrashers wear a somewhat severe expression thanks to their heavy, slightly downcurved bill and staring yellow eyes, and they are the only thrasher species east of Texas. Brown Thrashers are exuberant singers, with one of the largest repertoires of any North American songbird.
Looking down a side street off the Cours Gambetta in Cotignac at about 6.30 on Friday evening. The last of the sun setting in the west was lighting up the wooded hillside
Have a great week ahead everyone! :-)
this is possibly my favourite photo I have ever taken, sooc. Sometimes, the world just opens up and lets you have a glimpse of real magic.
There are times when I visit somewhere such one we know now, like momentarily glimpsing how England might've been several hundred years ago, with a slower pace of life and a stronger sense of community.
St Andrew's Church is a redundant 12th century Anglican church in the village of Cranford St Andrew, Northamptonshire, England.
The church stands in the park of Cranford Hall, to the southwest of the house.
Early starts are a pain, but they do have their benefits. Another foggy/misty/cloudy morning along the cliffs.
As we headed down through the trees the clouds thinned and we caught glimpses of the nearby mountains. The trees rained melted snow on us.
I caught glimpses of stars..
On a dark and dreary night..
and though my heart is heavy, body weary,
the twinkling stars still gives me delights..

157/365: I think yesterday was the first time I was out with my camera around sunset hours. Sunset time coincides with the kids bedtime routine...and they sort of come first ;)
I hope everyone has had a fabulous day!
PS - I'm a bit behind and on my way to visit all my fabulous contacts! My internet is sloooooow today!

"There is no glimpse of the light without walking the path. You can't get it from anyone else, nor can you give it to anyone. Just take whatever steps seem easiest for you, and as you take a few steps it will be easier for you to take a few more." Mildred Lisette Norman

All 3 of us spotted it from the car window the lone tree nestled amongst orange grass shrouded in mist. It was a photo opportunity and we had to stop.
Stopping abruptly on a misty busy road wasn't a wise idea so we carried on anxiously looking back as our precious find disappeared into the haze.
We eventually found a safe pull in, grabbed our gear and trudged back along the road to see if the fleeting glimpse of the lone tree was worth all the effort.
