Made this for fun! Was completely inspired by Teresa Layman's book, Gingerbread for All Seasons. There's a wee post about it here.

Gingerbread Boy was reportedly making Smores when tragedy struck. His single story dream home burned to a molten pile in just about 3 minutes late Sunday. Officials have ruled out foul play but indicate the possibility that this was an alcohol related accident as the smell of rubbing alcohol was quite apparent. Remarkably Gingerbread Boy maintains a cheerful smile and is simply thrilled that the gumdrop lawn ornament that had been in his family for over 6 days was spared.

so, i was feeling artsy while doing icing for the gringerbread cookies this year.. snowflakes on reindeer

The first of 20 (!) I'm doing for a local hospital fundraiser. I haven't made a gingerbread house in a few years, so I borrowed heavily from the style of this gingerbread queen www.flickr.com/photos/57223777@N00/.

gingerbread house! these are both from a kit. though most of the decorations are things i added. like the candy canes, the star and tree cookies the gumdrop lane, the pretzel windows and cracker door. oh and the golden graham roof. i don't think ill ever do that again, my neck still hurts from hunching over!

the cool looking christmas tree made from candy looked great but it smelled awful. i got it from michaels

the further away house is actually a halloween house that i thought would look so cute done up for christmas (it has such a fun and cartoon-ey shape i thought it would be great to be mad of CANDY!) with necco wafer roof and gumdrop trim, path, and fence. the candy cane gate was terribly difficult!

santa was actually made from 4 different cookies all glued together (with royal icing). 2 gingerbread men, a 'jingle bell' ornament, and a star.

INGREDIENTS:

1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated gingerbread cookies

1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated sugar cookies

1 tablespoon sugar

DIRECTIONS:

1. Place 17x12-inch sheet of waxed paper on cookie sheet. Cut gingerbread cookie dough in half lengthwise. Arrange halves, side by side, on cookie sheet. Top with second sheet of waxed paper. Roll dough to form 15x9-inch rectangle. Freeze 5 minutes.

2. Repeat on work surface with sheets of waxed paper and sugar cookie dough. Freeze 5 minutes. Remove top sheet of waxed paper. Lifting dough with waxed paper, turn sugar cookie rectangle upside down onto gingerbread rectangle. Gently pat doughs together. Refrigerate 15 minutes.

3. Remove waxed paper from top of dough. Using remaining waxed paper and starting with 1 long side, roll up stacked dough jelly-roll fashion, without rolling paper into roll. Wrap roll of dough securely with waxed paper. Freeze about 45 minutes or until very firm.

4. Heat oven to 350°F. Unwrap dough; cut into 4 equal rolls. Work with 1 roll at a time; keep remaining 3 rolls in freezer until ready to slice. Cut each roll into 13 or 14 (1/4-inch) slices. On ungreased cookie sheets, place slices 2 inches apart, reshaping into rounds as necessary. Sprinkle each cookie with sugar.

5. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks.
