Daily Dog Challenge: Fairy Tale

Lucy Peanut has a Gingerbread Girl toy, and I spotted it when I was trying to think of a fairy tale for this challenge. I put her on the couch with the Gingerbread toy. The hair band was her own addition to the setup.

Each year the Inn hosts a gingerbread house contest where they seem to bring the craft to the next level.

During the 1200-1300 brought to Sweden by German immigrants it was a custom to bake white cookies and paint them as window decorations.

The first documented trade of ginger bread cookies is dated to 1500's where they were sold in monastery pharmacies and town square farmers markets.

100 years later in the town of Market Drayton in Shropshire, UK is known for its gingerbread and this is proudly decreed on the welcome sign. The first recorded mention of gingerbread being baked in the town dates back to 1793; however, it was probably made earlier as ginger was stocked in high street businesses from the 1640s.

Gingerbread became widely available in the 1700s.

In the beginning, I was only trying to enlarge the original Gingerbread House from Lego, but step by step it evolved into something more original and creative!

Took a picture of gingerbread my family made for Christmas. Taken on a Sony a5000 and modified RAW.

Some days before Christmas, my niece and I made gingerbread. In fact, I think it's much more fun to make gingerbread than to eat them. Alva, my niece was at least glad for the result and loved them!

The gingerbread village is a Christmas tradition at the Henry Ford Museum. The buildings are made from a wide variety of candies and other edible materials (for example, pretzels for log houses) and many are replicas of the buildings in Greenfield Village.
