Smile on Saturday theme: Portray a Fairy Tale

The Gingerbread Man

A little old woman baked a gingerbread man, and when she took him out of the oven, he ran away. The woman, her husband and some of their animals chased him. No one could catch him. He came to a river and a sly fox told him he could jump on his tail and he would take him across. He did and the fox went deeper and the gingerbread man had to jump on his back and then on his nose. When he got to his nose, the fox ate him.

I found some gingerbread men that were not yet eaten at Christmas time. :-)

Wishing everyone a fabulous new week ahead =)

I created these lil guys for necklaces and brooch pins. They measure just 1 1/4 inches tall

Gingerbread and porcelain - a strange place

Spotted in a shop window, made by children.

Too bad I won't be able to leave this out all year round :)

What would Christmas be without a gingerbread house?

Not a real gingerbread, just some of of my Christmas decorations.

Every year, I intend to make a gingerbread house and every year, time just runs away. There's always next year...

Elizabeth has finished creating a gingerbread centerpiece for her holiday party.

Christmas Ginger Bread Fun with Grand Kids :)

During a snow storm I came upon this. Thanks for a view.

Today on December 1st it’s exactly one year ago that the Gingerbread House Project started on LEGO Ideas. Within one year the project gathered over 8000 supports. Many, many thanks!

To celebrate the 1st anniversary of the project I have been building another version of the Gingerbread House. This house may be a bit more appealing to girls with the pink colour scheme, heart-shaped windows and marzipan door. The house is just a little twist on the original and shows that with a simple change of colour scheme and some minor twists of shapes you can actually personalize the Gingerbread House any way you like it.

Being a candle is not easy;

in order to give light

one must first burn.

Thanks for views, faves and comments! ;-)

The chef and the helpers at the Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon put a lot of effort into this gingerbread castle and village. This is the 2011 version of this annual display. We like to stop in to view it and enjoy a delicious lunch in the festive dining room.

Gingerbread Leaf - Sony A7S II, Fotodiox MFT to Sony E adapter, Lensbaby Sol 22

A gingerbread house constructed by my wife and son. Decorations include M&Ms, gumdrops, mashmallow bears, and, oddly enough, Sun Chips.

Details: Tripod, on-camera 280 series Speedlite with diffuser, minimal post-processing in Picasa. The difficulty in this shot is getting the focus right. In the low light environment of the living room after sunset, there's not much light to work with. Used manual focus to try to hit that right after numerous AF failures. The exposures requires that you nail the house correctly while not screwing up the bokeh from the tree. Shot in "P" mode--a rare thing for me, but usual successful with flash.

8oz plain flour

pinch of salt

1tsp baking powder

3tsp ground ginger

1tsp allspice

1/2 tsp sodium bicarb

3oz marg

4oz soft brown sugar

3oz golden syrup

3oz black treacle

1 egg

1/4 pint milk

The idea is to melt the sugars/fats etc on the stove and then add the flour and spices.

I have no idea what the oven side of things were, but I'm guessing gas 3 (170°C) for a long long time...

Day 9 of my Christmas countdown is a gingerbread apartment, in our Gingerbread Village.

"Ta-dah!!", exclaimed Mummy Danbo, excitedly, "I've baked you a little gingerbread friend! What do you think?"

"What do I think, woman?" spat Danbo, "It's the wrong colour, it looks fat and its mouth is all weird. Get rid of it."

This house from the gingerbread display had a Southwestern theme, complete with cactus on the outside.

This Blythe doll is Blue Rabbit. She works in Santa’s advertising department, and sometimes she appears in their online ads, like this one for the theme Winter Celebration in Blythe Pure and Simple on Facebook.

I just adore her outfit, from Junie Moon! The big house is a gift bag from Target.

Gingerbread (or in Norwegian, 'pepperkake') is a quintessential feature of the Norwegian holiday season. Minnesota, with its large Norweigan-American heritage, gets in on the fun, too! The Norway House in Minneapolis hosts their annual Gingerbread Wonderland. This year it has about 250 structures created by professional bakers as well as gingerbread enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. The rules are simple: the structure must be made of gingerbread, and all parts of the display (except for any fairy lights) must be edible.
