A late summer's day by one of Iceland's beautiful waterfalls.

In vibrant contrast. The deep scarlet of this tiny emerging leaf, still holding onto glistening water droplets, cuts sharply against the bright white canvas. This macro view captures a moment of delicate strength, emphasising the simple, pure beauty found in nature's quiet details. The shallow depth of field guides the eye straight to that perfect curve and shine.

"Amazing view on the top Aiko, I'll be there soon...." Phew.....

God is not a static thing...but a dynamic, pulsating activity, a life, almost a kind of drama. Almost, if you will not think me irreverent, a kind of dance.

Went for a little camping trip to Snowdonia this weekend, and it rained pretty much the entire time, but still atleast meant there were plenty of waterfalls about.

If you are visiting Andorra la Vella and want to venture out of the capital city for a short hike, there are many trails to climb up the mountains that surround the valley. Many of the trails have outlooks with wonderful vistas. It’s just a nice way to get out of the city and into nature.

Storm chase in Salem County, NJ

These two hobbies are great, hiking and photography.

First a lovely and long hike, taking pictures of loads of nice things that Mother Nature has to offer, and stopping and just enjoying the scenery.

And Aiko is enjoying his sticks and treats and is happy 😁

And then relive my hike looking at all my photos, deleting and choosing which one I might show you 😄

It's indeed the small things that matter 😋

The Pragser Wildsee, or Lake Prags, Lake Braies (Italian: Lago di Braies; German: Pragser Wildsee) is a lake in the Prags Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy. It belongs to the municipality of Prags which is located in the Prags Valley.

During World War II it was the destination of the transport of concentration camp inmates to Tyrol.

In recent years, the lake has earned the nickname of "Pearl of the Alps" due to its increasing popularity among tourists.

The name of the lake is attested in 1296 as Hünz an den Se, in 1330 as Praxersee, in 1400 as See in Prags, in 1620 as Pragsersee and in 1885 as Pragser Wildsee; the appellation of wild is therefore nineteenth-century, and perhaps to be connected to mountaineering which in that period began to become a mass phenomenon. The Italian name "Lago di Braies" dates back to 1940, while in the first Handbook of 1923 it still appears only as "Pragser Wildsee".

The lake lies at the foot of the imposing rock face of the Seekofel (Italian Croda del Becco, Ladin Sass dla Porta 2,810 m) and is located within the Fanes - Sennes - Prags nature park.

It has an extension of about 31 hectares with a length of 1.2 km and a width of 300-400 meters. It is one of the deepest lakes in the autonomous province of Bolzano, with a maximum depth of 36 meters and an average depth of 17. The maximum water temperature is 14 °C. It is a barrage lake, as its creation is due to the barrage of the Prags River due to a landslide detached from the Herrstein.

The lake is a tourist destination, which attracts visitors for the blue / emerald green color of its clear waters and for the natural scenery in which it is immersed. In fact, the lake is surrounded on three sides by Dolomite peaks, including the Seekofel. The lake is the starting point of the Alta via n. 1 of the Dolomites called "The classic" which reaches Belluno at the foot of the Schiara Group.

In recent years, thanks to popularity of the Italian TV series Un passo dal cielo, the Pragser Wildsee became one of the most visited places of the region Trentino-South Tyrol as it started attracting the attention of countless travel bloggers and professional photographers. The large inflow of tourism brought local administrators to think of ways to reduce the number of visits to preserve the mountain-lake ecosystem (Wikipedia).

I'm a little bummed that I wasn't able to catch the group ascending together. It was difficult with them moving and the clouds quickly blowing over and changing the light, so this was the best out of my sequence.

Early morning in Southern Utah. The sun rises over Goblin Valley State Park. The blue of the shadows in the valley combine with the red of the rocks or make a strange purple tint in the shadows. The sun pours gold onto the landscape. The sphinx-dog looks to the west. Every rock shape looks like something.

There is not a whole lot to add to this shoot. Once the sun started coming up, I was shooting like a machine gun. Every way you turn in Goblin Valley is a great shot. Early in the morning was so much more spectaular, as you will see in upcoming shots. As an advance peak- smoke rising from the HooDos as the dew steams off, and frsot gems along the ground. You won't see either in the heat of the day.

But the Hoodoos are the real draw here. There is so much avriety. When you shoot to the west, you wonder what you are missing to the East or the South! You really have to edit in your eye, becayuse you can't shoot everything.

This shot interested me for the obvious dog profile. And the sphinx-like body. This was stille arly enough I was getting a lot of color contrast between the shadows and the sunlight. The red rock definitely enhances that color contrast. A little twist up on the vibrance and the contrast is much more obvious.

This was my second feild trip with my D810, the first being Bryce Canyon the weekend before. This was shot with my workhorse Tamron 24-70, which is a great all-purpose lens. Polrizer? Not in this shot! A polorizer will do nothing when you shoot direct into the sun. And I do like shooting into the sun!

So, how to shoot into the sun? Well, first remove ALL your filters. Hopefully that leaves you a very clean lens. If your lens isn't clean, clean it! Any dust will show up and, more often than not, screw up your lines. Now to get the sunburst, you ahve to do two things. First, shoot all stopped down. You need the smallest aperture possible. (You can open up one stop, but the effect will be less).

Second, the whole sun will not burst. You need a tiny part of the sun peaking out from something onscuring it. WHat I often wuill do is put the camera on a tripod (ALWAYS!!!!), and then move it until the lens is covered by the shadow of the object. Then get behind the camera and make minor adjustments until you get the burst. Expose for the general scene, NOT for the sun.

There you go. Now getr out there and shoot something!
