Getting a fire going in readiness before cooking my evening meal. Bearnus Bothy Ulva Island Scotland
After going down to the lake and taking in the evening, the decision to get back to camp before the sun went down was a group vote. GH2
More emulsion photography. Several months ago, the Poly Photo club in San Diego put on a workshop that included a presentation by one of our members about how to create emulsion art using whole milk, food coloring and dish washing detergent. I loved seeing the results by our members, and decided to try it. Here's a link to a website that shows exactly how to do it:

Lighting stuff: I used a bare YN560-III, in manual mode, to put some light to to the emulsion. The flash was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N. I've also posted a picture of the setup that I used, because sometimes people find that to be helpful. Check the first comment down below to see the setup.
More photographs of colorful emulsions (although created differently) are in my pretentiously titled Emulsion Art album.

Yes I know, overworking the Lisianthus, but don’t worry, they’re getting past their best now.
Thanks for stopping
Bluebells aren't the first choice of nutrition for many butterflies, and here you can see why, no peripheral vision. Helps me get closer, anyway!

Wifey is away for the weekend... Winner! What's a man supposed to do with himself on a Friday evening? Get nekkid of course! At least I'm honest gents ;)
So I have the living room to myself and out comes 'the gear'
Two light stands and an office chair mat courtesy of Ikea suspended between them. Gelled 'Medium Blue Green' YN560IV fired from below 1/16 @ 24mm. Gelled 'Rust' YN560IV fired from above and slightly behind me 1/8 @ 105mm. Ryus Lightworks MkII torch gelled 'Quality Street' orange and then a quick swap to a 'Quality Street' blue for the background faffery. These had the LPB black fibre modifier attachment. Exported to PS for some fartnarkling and lots of 'Liquefy' to hone the torso!! Then into LR for the RAW conversion.
Enough 'techie' Mark D :)
Thought I best make an effort after last nights quickie! Many thanks to all you folks who commented on my No1 :)
Just learning to ride under a helpful eye. Seen while walking back from the beach near dusk. The background walker was too close in the best photo of the boy so she has been moved from the second photo when the boys leg was on the ground.
Have a good weekend when you get there. We are just 6 hours off it.
The entire team at once.
I did the team in red because that seems to be the signature color of the game. A blue team may be forthcoming...
This was my first attempt at doing miniland-scale figures. I have to say, they're pretty fun to make. The scale can allow for a surprising amount of detail, but the real key to making these is getting the proportions right. I can't say I did that 100% (some of these are probably too tall, excluding the Heavy), but overall I'm very satisfied.
FYI - for anyone in the Chicago area, I'll be bringing these figures and many more of my displays to the Wizard World Comic Con this weekend. Look for us in the far back corner.
Wizard World was great! I don't know if we'll be back next year, but I hope so!

Getting a bit closer to Rough Common and time to take things a little slower, dog walkers and runners around but I had a good blast earlier on the trail. As one slow down ones eye hits the amazing amount of wildlife within these ancient woods and one of my favourite placed to come to see the myriad of toadstools on offer including the ubiquitous Fly Agarics famed in The Blean......
Let's get out of this country
I have been so unhappy
Smell the Jasmine my head was turned
I feel like getting confessional
We'll find a cathedral city you can convince me I am pretty
Let's Get Out Of This Country (Camera Obscura)
Picture Spring - Day 5
Shooting at ground level with my camera resting in the grass is not the easiest thing to accomplish and still be happy with the result. I must have taken dozens of shots. At least the little blue flower is more or less in focus. I have mixed feelings about this kind of exercise in which I feel I have no control whatsoever. It's very touch-and-go... a rather precarious feeling!
"You can reach me by sailboat, climb a tree and swing rope to rope
Take a sled and slide down the slope, into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt, cross the border in a blaze of hope
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can
There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
If I had my way, surely you would be closer
I need you closer"
This is a restaurant scene, which I photographed in Nottingham with my X-T2 camera and 35mm prime lens (50mm full frame equivalent).

Downy Woodpecker, Okeeheelee Park, West Palm Beach, FL
It's been a very long time since I have seen one of these woodpeckers. And on this day I saw two as they were following each other around the tree. One was pecking away and getting the grub and then feeding it to the other. Hmm... a pesky youngster following around Mom? I don't know. I've never seen this behavior.

I just wish they would have let me get closer (or I had more glass). The shots are 100% crops almost. And I could have lowered the ISO.
It's raining too, so Pippy isn't the only one who's getting wet today!!!
It was such a beautiful sunny day yesterday!
