Another gate, this one overgrown with shrubs and bushes.

The fabulous, design of the gorgeous, ornate, fence/gate on Parliament Hill, downtown Ottawa, Canada. They don't make them like this anymore. Love, love, love the detail.

Fushimi Inari Taisha is a shinto jinja (shrine) dedicated to the spirit Inari, located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan. Fushimi Inari Taisha is also famous for appearing in the film Memoirs of a Geisha. It is especially well known for the thousands of vermilion torii lining the paths on the hill on which the shrine is located. The torii gates are all donations from individuals, families or companies. The Inari spirit is considered to be the protector of grains, especially rice, and has thus historically been associated with wealth. Companies often make offerings to Inari shrines in the form of barrels of rice wine (sake) or torii gates.

Golden Gate Bridge emerging from the fog. Unlike a lot of my images, this one is straight out of camera. It was a magical morning full of the fog that makes San Francisco so intriguing.

Unfortunately, on our tour in September 2024, the park was mostly closed. The passage towards Banff was possible, so I could only create a few shots from the gate to Jasper. Here you can see the view towards Roche Ronde from the Athabasca River, unfortunately the clouds hang very deep, so that you see little of it

Entrance to one of the buildings of Gannon University, Erie PA, quiet on Memorial Day.

This lovely fence and gate are one half of the entrance to an area I like to call the Secret Garden. It's an area used for private functions...such as weddings...at a local botanical gardens.

Happy Monochrome Monday

Another from yesterday’s misty start, probably my favourite of the morning.

While most of the buildings in the main areas of Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island were fairly functional this house and gate were attractive with all the curving surfaces. I wasn't able to see far inside but there was a sign about Jewellery & Silver so think it may be a business. Much of the construction happening in the various main island settlements are for tourists as there are restrictions on who can live on the Galapagos Islands.

A google search gives this as Galapagos Jewelry, Av. Charles Darwin (esq. Matazarno), EC200350, Puerto Ayora, Ecuador

A garage gate in the city, made from very raw looking wood.

Our little side gate, with a glorious new outlook on life - sand blasted and powder coated, I think it is better than new!

Looking across the old wooden gate with the Heads of Ayr over on the horizon!

Yaowarat Gate, ChinaTown, Bangkok

Gate leading to a back entrance

It doesn't take long, nature takes it back.

I took this several years ago with my "tourist" camera, a Canon G12. Taken from Moore Rd Pier near Horsehoe Bay at the north end of the bridge. I finally got around to processing it in B&W at the request of a friend. I was able to pull a lot more detail out of the clouds using Silver Efex.

Happy Fence Friday

great to meet you Steve!

Yesterday's post of the storefront gate reminded me that this one has been hanging around for awhile. Another morning roaming through Albuquerque's old town before the shops open.
