I figured that after all the love that I've been giving the Bay Bridge, I should give some equal time to the Golden Gate.
Out of nowhere the sky formed like this and the position of the sun was perfect. just one of these days where everything comes together.
Taken in The Adršpach Rocks. This is an incredibly beautiful Czech Rock Town literally taken out of fairy tale pages. Built of sandstone, with spiers reaching 100 meters high, complemented by an emerald lake, a waterfall and breathtaking landscapes.
Well first I missed my plane
So I wound up on your flight
Then we got stuck in Detroit
Half the night
And the only vacant seat
You could find at gate twenty-nine
Was one next to mine ...
Fyndon's Gate was part of Canterbury's St Augustine's Abbey. The abbey gatehouse was rebuilt from 1301 to 1309 by Abbot Fyndon. It has since been known as the Fyndon Gate or the Great Gate. The chamber above the entrance was the state bed-chamber of the Monastery. In 1625, Charles I of England and Queen Henrietta Maria slept in this chamber, following their marriage in Canterbury Cathedral. In 1660, after the Restoration, Charles II and his brothers, the Dukes of York and Gloucester, stayed in the gatehouse on their way to London.
Fyndon's gate suffered such damage by German bombs during the Second World War that it had to be rebuilt. The gate faces a small square known since the reign of Charles I as Lady Wootton's Green."
St Augustine's Abbey was a Benedictine monastery that was founded in 598 and functioned as a monastery until its dissolution in 1538 during the English Reformation. After the abbey's dissolution, it underwent dismantlement until 1848. Since 1848, part of the site has been used for educational purposes and the abbey ruins have been preserved for their historical value.
Abbot Fyndon's Great Gate, is a private entrance into the King’s School. The public entrance to the abbey ruins is on Longport. The King's School is a British co-educational independent school for both day and boarding pupils. It is a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference and the Eton Group. It is held to be the oldest continuously operating school in the world, having been founded in AD 597.

When the fires of last year ravaged the landscape, it was devastating. These blackened tree trunks illustrate some of the damage done. They appear to form a barrier with a community of color on their other side. When the forests were tinder dry, many warned of such a possibility.
It is unconscionable to think that according to local firemen, it started from errand cigarette buts thrown from a car. In addition, as they were battling the blazes, their equipment was being stolen by those thinking to sell devises such as quads, hoses, and more. Hopefully this spot and the surrounding area will recuperate quickly.

The Pipewell Gate . . Winchelsea also known as Ferry Gate. Destroyed in the French attack in 1380, it was rebuilt in 1404 by John Helde the then Mayor.
The road plunges down beneath a steep cliff and it was here that King Edward I had a miraculous escape. He was at Winchelsea to view his fleet, loading for his Flanders campaign, and approached the top of the cliff, which was crowned only by a low earth wall. His horse was startled and jumped the wall then, with its rider, disappeared down the precipice. Horror-struck the townsfolk were in time to see the horse land a full thirty feet below on the road, where it slid twelve paces, stumbling and staggering before the king, still in his saddle turned his horse around and rode straight back to the top.

I was there taking photos when I saw this sky brewing over there, so I scrambled up into the field to get a better viewpoint... not sure if the gate works really.... (photographically speaking I mean lol) but there wasn't much else to use for foreground.

I have often thought that there was a photograph to be made out of the large wooden gates that form the entrance to the Beeston Canal from the River Trent. I felt that a slightly high key treatment might show off the weathered wood and its associated ironwork at it's most attractive from a photographic point of view. After all, they are only functional wooden gates that most normal members of the general public might never look twice at. But as photographers we see the world through photographic eyes and the word 'normal' could never apply to us!

The Brandenburg Gate (German: Brandenburger Tor) is a former city gate, rebuilt in the late 18th century as a neoclassical triumphal arch, and now one of the most well-known landmarks of Germany.
It is located in the western part of the city centre of Berlin, at the junction of Unter den Linden and Ebertstraße, immediately west of the Pariser Platz. One block to the north stands the Reichstag building. The gate is the monumental entry to Unter den Linden, the renowned boulevard of linden trees, which formerly led directly to the city palace of the Prussian monarchs.
It was commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace and built by Carl Gotthard Langhans from 1788 to 1791. Having suffered considerable damage in World War II, the Brandenburg Gate was fully restored from 2000 to 2002 by the Stiftung Denkmalschutz Berlin (Berlin Monument Conservation Foundation).[1]
This gate will make a great addition to any setting.
