My Favourite Word: Schlimbesserung by Dave 77459

Today FGR has an awesome group: My Favorite Word. Finally a group that a word maven can love. :)

My favourite word is Schlimbesserung. A German word, it means (roughly) "the incremental improvement that screws the whole thing up."

Ever tinker with something until you do one tinker too many, and the project is messed up? That last one is a schlimbesserung.

I have a particular affinity to this word with my history as a programmer. We'd have a perfectly working program, and then the manger/owner/client would want just one more feature. Ka-BOOM! The working program was ruined.

To safeguard against using GIMP and committing a schlimbesserung (as frequently happens), I am uploading this straight out of the camera. ;-)
