FGR asked us for photos that are noisy. I know for a fact that motorcycle pipes have people covering their ears.

However, honesty compels me to admit that Roxie is not noisy in the least. Jamie and I hold conversations at nearly highway speeds. When I group ride, I start Roxie first so that I can hear her. Otherwise, any other bike drowns her out.

I know that some people say loud pipes save lives. I know others that argue there is no evidence to support that claim. However, there isn't evidence that loud pipes don't save lives. So, for now it is a matter of opinion, but I will say that the loud pipe people are making governments pass laws against motorcycles and turning the public against us. I'll shake my fist for that reason.

For me, I enjoy my quiet Roxie. It let me get to within 20 yards of a hawk before it took flight (scaring the shit out of my sphincter). I like being able to talk to Jamie while we ride. I like being part of the landscape rather than an intrusion.

Nope, NOT noisy for me.

For Flickr Group Roulette and today's assignment : Flash light in the mirror. Except I decided to take it literally and use a flashlight instead of the flash on my camera. Why? Well- 1)because at first that's how I interpreted it. And 2) because when I tried the flash the first time I thought I would go blind if I continued. So out came the massive flashlight.

Oh well. It may be "against" the rules of the group. If so- sorry kids.

- just a moment to sit down and take my selfie, such a busy day today,

such a crazy week, and oh my goodness, it's only tuesday.

i have accomplished a lot and have much more to do in the next 3 days...

I turned in my graphic design Play Poster project today,

- i think i did very well :)

and we are on to the next project...

this time we are to make a booklet

of paper samples from a paper company.

The spin is that it has to be very interesting...

Visually appealing or at least informative in someway

so that the intended customer, keeps the booklet around the office

rather than just tossing it in the recycling.

i have lots of ideas already.

but i tell ya, i have sooo much on my plate,

i already need a vacation!!!

March 11th - Tigers! Grrrr! and State of Mind.

So I had a completely different, cooler shot worked out for today. I took the shots, but the time needed to spend editing just got away from me today... what with going to the gym, going to work, going to my friend's softball game, and coming home to find an email from my advisor at school informing me that I'VE BEEN NOMINATED FOR A UNIVERSITY AWARD BY THE DEAF STUDIES FACULTY, and I have to write a blurb about myself and my background and the things I've have to juggle to be a good student. So I've been working on that instead.

State of Mind: "I'll just pose for a few random shots just in case my original idea doesn't work out, or I hate the way I look when trying to make a growling tiger expression..." which is true, I didn't really care for the way they looked until I uploaded them onto my computer.

TRF: This tiger tail hangs on the back of our bedroom door. Why I decided to put it on my head? I don't know.

Today's FGR pick is Nonchalant Teeth Brushing Self Portraits.

Rules are:

I hate that I have to show the camera, but you know I play by the rules.

Also, HHDT!

For today's B&W effort, I first did the LAB Enhancement technique to pop and saturate the colors (example). Then I decomposed to RGB, noting that this time the red was creamy. I put it at the bottom of the layer stack, and changed blue and green to 15% opacity to add depth and texture.

I find that if I put the creamiest layer at the bottom and the others on top, I can enjoy a Gaussian Blur looking photo without actually blurring.

For Flickr Group Roulette. Today's group is Sunday Confessional.

I used to love tennis. Not just playing, but also watching on TV. Back in the 80s and early 90s I used to love watching players like Gabriela Sabatini and Mats Wilander. Over time though, I lost my love for the game. I can't remember the last time I played, it was probably over 15 years ago. And I'm just now starting to watch it again on TV. I really enjoyed the Austrailan Open this year so maybe I'll give the French Open and Wimbledon a watch too. Who knows, maybe the next time I pick up this racket I'll use it for more than a photo op or a back scratcher.

Todays FGR is Failed Photographers Club and the biggest failure in my 28 years was absolutely joining the Air Force.

I was a lifelong brat whose parents literally called teh recruiter and I cant imagine there was even one person who thought I would enjoy one modicum of success while serving.

I was a failure from the beginning, to getting recycled in basic training until the eventual arrest, court martial, jail and final release from their grips.

A DD-214 is the piece of paper you get when you discharge out. You can see it here.

I was a Medic serving under President fucking Chucklenuts,

it is my favorite failure in the world.
