For FGR and Math World - Votlage

This is totally inspired by Ashley and her amazing idea of The ABC's of Physics. Electric potential difference has like another 15 different names it can be called, depending on the how you are approaching the subject. Voltage is one of them.

It is the difference in electric potential between two points. In this case, my head is positively charged and my legs are at ground level. The charge (electrons) passes from my head to my legs (those electrons moving are electrical current). The formula at hand is one of about a thousand that can be derived for voltage, where E is the electromagnetic field and d is the distance between points, and it is a dot product of vectors.

In layman's term, it is the shit that shocked you as a kid when you stuck your finger or probably a key on a receptacle.

Disclaimer: I got my degree back in 2002, so I have a headache thinking about this and there are probably a couple of mistakes on what I wrote, so don't take any of this shit seriously LOL. Just don't stick your finger or anything into a receptacle.

The valley was nice and foggy on the way home today. It looked like God had smooshed a bunch of clouds into the fields. There was another shot that I should have stopped and taken, but I was just too dang tired.

Looks way better here!

For FGR – I Propose a Toast to the Hat.

Lighting Info: Killed ambient. SB-600 triggered with Nikon CLS as key above camera (or camera right as it may seem) through umbrella. Power set to 1/4.

Had this fancy idea, but my biceps are still busted after my weight workout yesterday, so I had to improvise. You get an impossible toast instead.

My wife has like 23 different hats, it only seemed natural that I'd use one of those for my SP and FGR shot today.

I also took another shot I really like, unfortunately, it was without the glass.

Played a bit with Lightroom afterwards. Upped the contrast, clarity, and vibrance. Lowered the saturation a bit. Sharpened a bit. And finally added a small vignette.

Explored.

Here's 13 things about me.

1. I wouldn't like not to wear glasses.

2. Infinity and eternity used to make me cry in the middle of the night when I was a child.

3. Drinking a glass of milk might probably make me throw up. Last time I drank one was in elementary school, when a teacher made me drink it at lunch.

4. I'm not an only child.

5. I used to be a smoker, I quit a couple of years ago.

6. I don't drive, and will never willingly do so before I can do it without having to contribute to the world oil trade economy,

7. Not a fetish but : I like my feet (or, my feet are my favorite part of me)

8. I'm a linguist.

9. My memory doesn't work very well, but I can still summon the taste of things I don't like that I was last forced to eat several years ago.

10. If I had a supernatural power I'd like to be able to stop time.

11. Someday I'll be a writer.

12. I never dream about reality.

13. My mind is not very orderly.

FGR picked Booze 'n' Bokeh on the day. Since I am leaving for an overnight to Austin with my wife and girlfriend, I needed to booze it up for breakfast.

This was the perfect chance to "enjoy" a cafe correcto... espresso with a splash of grappa.

Have a Good Friday, y'all. If you get a chance, remember that Christ died for your sins. This is His day.

For FGR - If I catch you wearing this, I will have to kill you.

"I can't even stand to look at you!"

My husband actually said this the whole time we were putting this shot together. He would kill me (not really!!) if he came home and saw me dressed like this.

Honestly, I was kinda lost on actually what to wear for this challenge because I don't really own any of my old clothes anymore, and I've dressed basically the same for the past 10+ years. I <3 just jeans & t-shirts.

Die vordere Tastatur dient nur zur Bedienung des Spiels und ist kein Bestandteil des Spectrums

So today is my girl Sonia's day over at Roulette.

I don't really have any stupid human tricks, all the tricks I have AND do are anything BUT stupid ;) BUT I CAN roll my tongue. Go me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So yeah you can totally call me stupid now that I have done a stupid human trick. Ok so not really. Don't be a meanie yo! ;)

BUT YOU CAN!!!!!!! CALL ME.

Literally.

I decided to jump on the Snapvine bandwagon because I LOVE putting voices with names and pictures.

So........ HERE I AM.

Listen to my intro and my voice blog posts if you dare and THEN LET ME HEAR YOU.

Pretty please?!

That would make me OH SO HAPPY!

And a HAPPY KELL is a very good thing :)

This is the original Atari 2600 prototype that was actually built by engineers to develop the game machine. You can see the wiring they did to do what the final Integrated Circuitry would do. Imagine manually wiring up a CPU of today - by hand?!!

Always Know Where Your Towel Is

For FGR and Towel Day.

As a HHGTTG fan I just had to do this FGR challenge.

We were at a tenth wedding anniversary party last night and I had my face painted - it didn't even occur to me at the time that a design of stars would fit right in with the theme for the photograph. If it had, I might have asked her to paint a few planets on as well.

I took this in the hotel bathroom. I think it is the first time I have taken a prop 'on location' to take a 365.

BBOT (boring bit of trivia): Douglas Adams was a cixen * and the hosts of the party we were at are cixen as are we and some of the other party guests.

*CIX was one of the earliest computer conferencing systems.

Happy 1st birthday, Flickr Group Roulette! It's pretty awesome that the brainchild of Clem and the trial is now a full year old. Especially considering the two brains involved.

In honor of this momentous occasion, I copied a FGR photo from one of my favorite fuggers evar: TeeRish (aka my wife). Somehow I managed to get a very similar-looking monkey. Weird, huh?

FGR asked us to do high key photos today. What's high key? From the group:

High Key images are those where contrast and shadows are supressed, while the levels of exposure and brightness are high. It can be done in camera or more easily during post processing in Photoshop(or another image editor).

This is almost entirely done in camera, but not enough to call it SOOC or pSOOC.

My wife Josephine does the touristy thing by posing in the hockey player cutout. The hockey helmet actually looks a little like a jockey's helmet.

The cutout is part of an exhibit at Vancouver's Canada Place, celebrating the history of sports in Canada.

For 365 Days, FGR, and February's Alphabet Fun.

February 17th - Don't play with our food!! and The Letter Q.

Q is for quasi prankster.

My dad works at Shari's Berries around the holidays for fun and extra money. When they have berries that weren't dipped correctly or have any other visual abnormalities (aka "Boo Boo Berries"), he is allowed to take them home... and boy does he bring home a LOT of berries around Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Mother's Day. This February 14th was no exception; earlier this week he brought me a package of berries and I've been eating them one at a time. Yesterday while cooking dinner I decided to sneak in a berry, only when I bit down on the berry and felt a pain on my tooth I realized THE FUCKIN' BERRY WAS FAKE! My dad had snuck a fake berry in with the real ones, and I had fallen for the prank by trying to bite into the damn thing! When I showed it to Eric, he busted up laughing because my dad had clued him in on the prank! Oh I was pissed!

But this is nothing new with my dad; for as long as I can remember he's been playing pranks on family, friends, and his one and only offspring. One of these days I need to get him back, and good. One of these days... *shakes fists in air*

But alas, today is his birthday and while we were at lunch he got a good ol' laugh as I admitted to him that again he got me good and that I... ya know... hate him.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD, YOU QUICK WITTED, QUASI PRANKING, QUIRKY LAME ASS! ♥

PS - I attempted the Orton effect on this shot with a little help from pimpexposure. I did it fairly lightly since I didn't know what I was doing and I'm not even sure this photo is appropriate for the effect... but I tested the waters and tried something new. Woot.

PPS - Can you spot the fake berry?
