A workshop for families with Guggenheim educators and video game industry professionals investigating game design principles and architectural concepts. Created in collaboration with AARP, Mentor Up, E-Line Media, and the Joan Ganz Cooney Center for Educational Media and Research.

Jennifer Argüello, Technology Evangelist, visited The Young Women's Leadership School of Astoria to speak with Globaloria students about her experience growing up as a Latina pursuing a Computer Science degree in university and her career in the technology sector. She encouraged all girls to learn programming and enter the technology field, capping the visit by presenting prizes to the NY winners of the 2014 Globey Game Design Awards and Competitions, and giving the students a chance to try on her Google Glass.

The Globaloria team travelled to Huntsville, Alabama to familiarize new teachers with the Globaloria program, how to implement it in their classrooms, and engage their students on their game design journeys.

Feb. 19, 2013 - State Farm's Amelia Folkes presented two grants:

 

East Austin College Prep was awarded a $25,000 grant for the Teen Driver Safety Service Learning Project. This year they will work on projects in Globaloria Game Design Program.

 

Southwest Key was awarded a $15,000 grant to support adult Financial Literacy training through East Austin Children's Promise.

The "Elevator Pitch" goes something like this...

 

OK, picture this… “Harry Potter” meets “The Matrix”

 

Teenage boy Jasper is playing with his best friend in a city park. Suddenly a huge toothy tentacle wildcat monsters careens from the tree line, trampling and eating the best friend; Jasper wakes up in a cold sweat. It was only a dream. The next day he tries to visit his friend, but finds out his friend died in the night in his sleep. The following night Jasper dreams about his friend. His friend tells him that it was not “just a dream” that in fact the dream world is a parallel world from our own. There are entities from the dream world that are trying to cross over to our own, and entities who are trying to prevent that from happening. There has been a war going on for the past 1000 years based on these ideals. Jasper’s friend has just been recruited, and by having this conversation Jasper now knows too much. The dream sky grows dark, there is a deafening roar.

 

The game is about Jasper learning about this dream war, picking a side, and gaining the tools to fight in it. Set in this world and the dream realms (yes, more than one which means ability to expand realms and story like what World of Warcraft is doing now). Working title is “Dream Academy”.

When the time interval is fixed, you gradually develop a feel for when you need to try, so you step up your efforts around the time you think they’re going to pay off, and then you chill out for a bit.

An unserem Code&Play Stand konnte an drei Tagen ein buntes Workshop-Angebot wahrgenommen werden. Mit dabei waren:

 

senseBox, Junge Tüftler, NaWiTex-Schülerlabor, Technologiestiftung Berlin, Open Knowledge Foundation, Infosphere Aachen, Coder Dojos, Creative Gaming und das Game Science Center!

 

 

15 Desember 2015, Binus University - Jakarta Barat, telah sukses dan lancar berlangsungnya acara Workshop tentang "Develop A Game Using Unity" di Binus University dalam acara Hexion 2015 - “Ecofriendly Technology for Earth Regeneration” dari jam 13:00 - 17:00 WIB. Hexion merupakan acara rutin yang diadakan oleh HIMTI Binus University tiap tahunnya.

  

Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Informatika (HIMTI) Binus University adalah sebuah organisasi yang menaungi seluruh mahasiswa - mahasiswi School of Computer Science (SoCS) BINUS University. Dipenghujung tahun 2015, HIMTI Binus University mengundang GG Campus untuk mengisi acara Workshop dalam acara Himti Expo And Competition (Hexion).

  

Dengan kesempatan dan kepercayaan yang diberikan oleh Himti Binus University, maka semakin memberi jalan kepada GG Campus untuk membuka pikiran masyarakat Indonesia tentang betapa pentingnya pendidikan untuk bikin game. Dalam Workshop kemarin, Mr Argadipa Pratama Wibawa memberikan materi programming dasar dalam pembuatan sebuah game simpel menggunakan Game Engine Unity.

  

Disesi pertama, Mr Argadipa PW baru memberikan tahapan - tahapan membuat game 3D menggunakan Unity. Sehingga peserta Workshop belum nampak terlihat kesulitan dan rumitnya. Akan tetapi, untungnya disesi ke dua Mr Arga memberikan pengajaran singkat programming dasar membuat sebuah game 3D dengan cara yang menyenangkan. Maka peserta Workshop pun walau terlihat sulit dari raut wajah mereka, tapi tetap saja tidak mengurangi semangat.

  

Yayasan GG Kampus atau biasa disebut GG Campus (Good Game Campus), memiliki impian agar masyarakat Indonesia dapat menjadikan kebiasaan yang tadinya main game, menjadi membuat game. Sehingga orang tua yang masa kini di Indonesia sangat khawatir bahwa anak - anak kecanduan bermain game baik itu jenis mobile game, PC game, console game, dll, maka pertumbuhan anak - anak nantinya akan lebih kreatif dan dapat mewujudkan membuat game menjadi kebiasaan.
