Glossy Ibis with its reflection in the morning.

The glossy ibis that has been seen at Slimbridge Wetlands Centre and in the fields leading up to it recently.

A long rainy grey day out on the levels, trying to find Bramblings, Bewicks, a Ringtail, a pair of Glossies and Egyptian geese that had been seen together, all of which were fails. So back to Catcott for lunch and watch the ducks in the rain. Mid-afternoon the Glossy showed up, and the sun came out. So not a bad day after all. :@)

For the past three weeks, this LIEG seems to enjoy the company of one of the Glossy Ibises that flies back and forth between the three ponds at the AWR. Whenever the GLIB flies back to her pond, she will immediately fly over to where the GLIB is fishing or foraging and trail very closely behind... The GLIB doesn't seem to mind and they walk around together while the GLIB is poking and digging for food... I wonder if there is a name for this behavior? I have seen it before with other wader and shore birds as well... not to mention people...

Hunting for a snack. In breeding plumage!

Just happened to look out the side window as I was driving to Westhay today and spotted this rather splendid sight. The most I've ever seen together. Global warming strikes again :@\

HIGH END GLOSS

It is almost impossible to sufficiently admire just how classy and sleek he is! Portrait of an absolute belter of a Yellow-bellied Water Skink (Eulamprus heatwolei) from the banks of the Big River near Jamieson in the Victorian High Country on a sunny spring morning a few days ago.

This Glossy Ibis looks a little awkward in her landing approach to the Rookery. Not a glossy approach at all! This image was taken about a month ago when I visited the Heron Rookery in OCNJ. Please view large for best experience!

It is Friday and the weekend is upon us! Have a great one~!
