The glossy ibis that has taken up residency in the fields beside the Gloucester to Sharpness Canal that are owned by Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. This bird is very confiding and I was able to get within 25 yards for this shot.

A short visit to Catcott after work proved to be a good idea, as the Glossy dropped in nice and close again. :@)

The oldest recorded Glossy Ibis was at least 21 years old and lived in Virginia between 1971 and 1992.

I find Magpies very wary, probably due to persecution. Showing its glossy blue and green feathers as it hopped jauntily on this grass mound, this one soon took off.
