Glossy-Blacks are the smallest of Australia's five black cockatoo species. They have a very specific diet - the seeds of the Casuarina tree, & when they are busy stripping these trees feeding they can be quite approachable. Thankfully, the property they had been seen previously still had some seeding Casuarina trees & we found a family of three feeding on a dreary afternoon. At least the threatening rain held off for the most part & the dark clouds dispersed for a few minutes to allow for a few decent shots.

A stunning Glossy Ibis that dropped into a local wetland for a few days in 2018. Quite a rare occurrence in Victoria.

Good Monday morning folks and hope a great and safe July 4th Holiday weekend was had by everyone.

I normally do not do well with this species but really liked this one, the look, the pose and the lighting to me was perfect. Thanks for visiting and have a great day.

You can find plenty of white ibis just about everywhere in Florida and the juveniles are brown and then turn white.

We saw glossy ibis at one place that we visited and there were not that many of them.

This Ibis was in this pose for over 5 minutes. Ibis Yoga!?!?

This was my last cake of 2009!! but I am only posting now. The Holiday's are soooo hectic, plus I worked right up till the 19th. This is my new Fave!! I made a cake for these 2 girls last year, and had to make sure I topped myself!! I will post a BHL pic of the 2 side by side for a progress comparison....lol ; )

The Mom is a long time friend of mine and of course I LOVE to go ALL out on my cakes. So They were holding the party at a local mall that has an indoor Fantasy Fair. So I had full creative control and knowing the party location I wanted something that reflected the environment. So the bottom tier is kinda just a fun Fair-like design, next tier we have a bucket of popcorn, and finally a big ol'candy apple. I soo wanted to make the apple glossy....but I chickened out!! I was going to paint it in red tinted piping gel....then I got worried that I would over work the gel and make it cloudy or something.....I'm a worry wart and that sometimes holds me back I suppose. But I did get an air brush machine for Christmas that I am expecting in the post any day now....Yeah!! So next time for sure I will make it shiny and glossy!!

Have wanted to get some images of these wonderful birds for a long time. The stars aligned and delighted with the results and the encounter.
