I can only deduce that this piece of ugly equipment is a leaf gathering/sweeper. I must admit that it seems to be very efficient as there were no leaves around it, it is May though.

Kris and I give each other very functional gifts for holidays and anniversaries. The Breville Juicer was a Christmas gift to each other and we use it every single day... It is very easy to use - we just throw the veggies and fruits in the top and it comes right out the side. One of my favorite things to do is add fresh juice into a blender cup with banana, nuts, and soft tofu with a little bit of almond or soy milk - blend it lightly for a minute and delicious fresh smoothie!

A new functional fitness training room equipped for cutting-edge cross-fitness workouts opened Nov. 1 at the Carey Physical Fitness Center on Camp Casey.
Col. John M. Scott, Commander, U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I and other garrison officials took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the room.
It measures 20 feet by 44 feet and is equipped with TRX suspension bands, resistance bands, assisted pull-up suspension bands, battling ropes, Olympic rings, Olympic bars, rubber weight plates, weighted jump ropes, kettle bells, dumbbells, stability balls, medicine balls, plyometric boxes, a speed ladder, situp bar, mini hurdles, and a variety of workout machines, among other fitness items.

The 4th annual earthquake functional exercise was conducted March 12 by U.S. Army Garrison Japan’s Directorate of Emergency Services. The exercise was held in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on the Camp Zama installation. For the first time, a Joint Information Center (JIC) was set up in the Camp Zama Army Community Service building by the U.S. Army Garrison Japan Public Affairs Office and a Mass Care Facility, set up at Yano Fitness Center by the Camp Zama Directorate of Family Moral, Welfare and Recreations. Typically Danish. My son in third grade had a class on Design today, discussing design, form and functionality. They had to make some packaging for a product that was handy and that showed the product inside.

4th Ring Formula Saga -- A FUNCTIONAL ring.
So I had a relentless roving sore throat that eventually turned into a relentless cough. The 2 worked nicely together. I coughed about every 2 to 3 minutes for about 4 days, making the sore throat even sorer. It was the kind where you were afraid to go to bed, because if you didn't time it right you didn't get to go to sleep. By timing it right, I mean the right combination of night time cough syrup, ibuprofen and cough drops to get you into bed and asleep before you started coughing. I slept upright on the couch a couple of nights.
I usually don't buy regular medicine, I think it's better not to suppress a cough, but this thing was so intense that one morning I found myself at Rite Aid in the cold and flu aisle buying cough syrup and cough drops. Later that day I was a little disturbed to find out I had bought children's Robitussin. I needed the good stuff. The next day, I wanted to get to the drug store earlier to get a better supply of cough medicine. However, I wasn't quite as out of it as I was the day before, and read the labels on the medicines.
I remembered why I didn't buy them. Most of them had as a 2nd ingredient, high fructose corn syrup (in addition to a bunch of scary and bizarre chemicals)! Well, I had been avoiding ice cream and candy because I know it's not good for you if you're sick, but in the mean time I'm sucking it down in my cough syrup and cough drops! Well, I couldn't bring myself to buy any more and went to the health food store next door and got some homeopathic cough syrup with hardly any sugar and some Ricola (which were good, but didn't hold a candle to the Sucrets!) I don't think the homeopathic cough syrup worked.
I'd keep thinking I was getting better (cuz I'm such an optimist) but this thing was so relentless. I spent most of my time watching every movie known to man and visualizing my functional ring. As my sickness progressed the picture kept getting clearer and clearer or maybe I was just clearly delusional.
First, I saw a ring with a Sucret set into it, with writing stamped on the band and then I kept seeing a metal vessel to hold my cough syrup. So today I really did feel better and got to make my rings!
The Sucrets Ring kind of reminds me of reminds me of Superman. I know Sucrets became my hero this past week! On the band is stamped "Suppresses Cough" and "Serious Sore Throat Relief."
The cough syrup ring is my favorite. On the middle of the band in small stamps is "Do not take more than 4 doses in any 24 hour period." And in bigger stamps above and below the other writing is the 2 main ingredients in cough syrup an antihistimine "Chlorpheniramine Maleate" and a cough suppressant "Dextromethorphan HBr." On the cup is stamped with a line around the top "1 Teaspoon" and then below that I stamped some of the disgusting ingredients in cough syrup -- "saccharin, corn syrup, FD&C red 40"
But best of all, I am feeling better today! Still coughing, but at least it doesn't hurt!!

The new Functional Training Center is equipped for cutting-edge cross-fit workouts. Located adjacent to the Camp Hovey Fitness Center, the new facility is equipped with an array of fitness equipment that includes dumbbells, kettle bells, medicine balls, and TRX equipment - a system of bands suspended from overhead supports that rely on gravity and afford a workout to a variety of muscle groups and joints.
