Hello Tasty Humans!
Helix is excited to be participating in his first Monthly Scavenger Hunt! He thought it was appropriate to use this category to introduce himself. Despite appearances, you have nothing to fear from Helix. He is a family friendly monster with orange fur and pointy horns.
Helix was born (made) in China but currently lives with his creepy puppet master (CPM) in the state of Minnesota. The CPM is constantly violating Helix's private puppet hole with his creepy hand. Helix is not amused.
For the first four years of his puppethood, Helix maintained a popular website. While Helix is no longer updating it, the link is still active and if you'd like to learn more about Helix, please visit: www.helixdmonster.com
Having now made a proper introduction, Helix is off to start completing this month's hunt!
If you enjoy Helix, he politely asks that you allow him to gnaw on your delicious elbows.
Stay orange!

A fun and thoughtful little Christmas stocking gift from a friend. From the back of the "matchbox" cover:
Save the trees! We need them! Every time you remove a Tree Friendly Pencil from the pack you will be reminded of the deforestation that occurs for the things we take for granted. Made out of recycled paper, so no trees were harmed in the making of this product!

Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. 2010.
Jaigarh Fort is one of the most spectacular forts in India, with almost all its original facilities intact. While Jaigarh Fort is on top of the hill, Amber Fort is at the bottom. The forts are connected through well-guarded passages. Many consider the two together as one complex.
I'm pretty pleased with the cop outfit. Too bad he's not wearing the chest badge in this picture.
The one other thing missing, though, is a donut. ... and shoes. I guess that's more than one thing.
Unlike some countries I've been to (Vietnam, Morocco) the locals in Tibet are very friendly and happy to have their photo taken!
Diane (circulation) and Christy (one of our Board members) at the circulation desk.
Our library circulation staff check out, check in, and shelve materials, as well as helping people find books, making recommendations for what to read next, and answering reference questions.
Since joining a shared library catalog a couple of years ago our interlibrary loan rates have skyrocketed. About 15% of the items our patrons check out are borrowed from other libraries. In addition, about 10% of our circulation is for items going out to other libraries for their patrons.
Needed to bring something for the cake walk for my daughters school, and this little witch was perfect

On Friday we rented a golf cart to go have lunch at Dave and Heidi's. We had a little time to burn so we start driving around. We pull over and I'm looking both ways to try and get back into traffic when this little dog is trotting down the street. He gets past the cart and then hops in. We didn't have anything to feed him so he hopped down and trotted away.
We found a beach where we spent the night between Kom Ombo and Edfu.
In the morning, we woke up and saw that there was a little bit of activity behind the trees.
We walked there and saw a stream running along the Nile and curious people who were as surprised as we were to see us.
I was browsing the Dream House property, thinking of how nice it was, and one of the very friendly neighbors came over to say hello and welcome me to the neighborhood! "Good mornin' ma'am!," I said. "Neigh, baby." said the horse.
Horses are good neighbors. Quiet neighbors. Oh how I long for quiet neighbors.
