Benched in Georgetown, ON. October 28, 2022.

Today's journey from Fort Murchison to Fort Portal was to take 14 hours - longer than it took to travel from London to Uganda!

This was one of the better roads we encountered.

Waiting at didcot station late at night after a trip to Bristol. Bit spooky when the big freight trains whizz past.

These ferries are very handy. They dock quickly and neatly alongside. The side door opens and a pair of ramps are lowered. Elevators raise pallets to dock and forklift level. The ramp in the forground is for cars. They are lowered by another elevator to the car deck. A stop can be as short as fifteen or twenty minutes!

Freight trains benched in Northern California

First time I saw a moving freight train on this track!

The old narrow-gauge railway line still exists and is still used by one train a day from three different locations into town in the morning, and the same three trains back in the evening. I have never yet understood why this line is not pushing trains to and fro every 20 minutes -- there would certainly be demand for the service!
