While returning from the depot to the station a flurry of T466 rolled past on freight. I would imagine this viewpoint has been lost to the rebuild of the approach lines since my last visit.

The freight depot east of this marker stands on the western terminus of Hancock County's first rail link to the outside world. In 1849 the Mad River and Lake Erie Railroad Company opened a branch line from Findlay to its main line at Carey. A freight warehouse was built here ca. 1848 and passenger station in 1863. The Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago, and St. Louis Railroad replaced these earlier buildings with the present depot in the 1890s.

JR Freight EH500-33 approaches Omiya with a freight train

These are freight tracks embedded in the street, not trolley tracks. They are standard gauge, whereas all trolley tracks in Philly are broad gauge.

You can see the awesome abandoned Reading Railroad trestle in the background. (Stay tuned; there's a bunch of interesting shots I took up there coming up!)

Taken on the 10xx block of Noble Street, Philadelphia.
