(Rhus aromatica). Deep East Texas.
While winter has claimed most of East Texas, there are still a few trees and shrubs that are displaying their fall color.
Fragrant sumac is an attractive little shrub with leaves somewhat similar in shape to poison ivy that give off an attractive aroma when crushed.

These pears have an exotic origin and legendary reputation--first time arriving to the United States. They come from the Xinjiang region of China. They are fairly small, roughly oval, similar to the shape and color of a Bartlett pear, but when you bite into one of these, it is absolutely amazing.. NOTHING like it.. The skin is thin, the flesh is CRISP--as crispy if not CRISPIER than the asian pears, but its juiciness and sweetness give this pear it's delicate taste with a tantalizing floral aroma that no other pear can match up to..

Rosa 'Fragrant Cloud' is still blooming in my garden on October 24! It's hard to believe but the temperature was just under 25C today. Unfortunately as so often happens in Calgary a cold front will cross the city tonight with the high being only 5C tomorrow. PA243480bib
