This diminutive fern shows up in moist woodlands in southern Ohio by April each year. It is later often dwarfed by larger species that share the same habitat.

And I am in the city again...
It’s been 3 years since the end of the war now. After almost 7 years of brutal battles, orbital bombardments and ruthless killing, the war had finally come to an end and both species had worked out a contract for peaceful co-existence. It’s a fragile peace, though.
I’m now in New Chicago, the Earth-Alliance’s new capital. They live among us now. You can see them here and there. There are not many of them. But they are here. That makes me feel uneasy. Sometimes it seems like they are observing and planning. The headquarter doesn’t belive me and the doctors say I’m mad. But I know: THEY ARE WATCHING US !
found washed up by the sea. i think it is the breast bone from a bird - maybe a duck? it is always interesting to see what makes it ashore in one piece, so delicate and fragile, when other shells and bits get smashed to pieces in the waves.
We were driving through Acadia National Park and spotted a momma and her little one. They were looking to cross the road so we stopped to try and slow traffic, afraid they would get hit. We did our job and they managed to make it.

Among the smallest of damselflies in this area. I spotted it flying or probably would have missed it. Thankfully it landed on a peppervine leaf which is big enough for the auto-focus on my camera to work properly. When these tiny damselflies perch on a small stem or narrow grass blade, I usually have trouble getting a good auto-focus.

Sago palm fronds are pretty hardy (and kind of poky!), but the new fronds are soft and fragile for the first few weeks. You must be careful not to damage them.
