I managed to capture this Fox just at the moment he stuck his tongue out though I think he was licking his lips. Foxes are found throughout Britain and Ireland. In fact they are found pretty much throughout the Northern Hemisphere. British Foxes were once thought to be a different subspecies (crucigera) with smaller, more widely separated teeth. But further work has shown that dentition varies and it is highly doubtful whether British Foxes are sufficiently different to merit being called a subspecies. Though Foxes from even warmer parts of Europe seem to develop longer coats compared with British Foxes. They are highly adaptable and can occur in many different habitats feeding on a wide variety of food especially rabbits, voles, birds, beetles, worms and fruit. Foxes living in urban areas tend to scavenge for food scraps just as they do for carrion in rural areas. But they will also take live food in urban situations. The one visiting my garden is partial to peanuts.

Foxes mate in the depths of winter when the Vixen can be heard making that familiar screaming bark. Gestation is just over 50 days and the young are fully weaned at about 10 weeks. The male usually helps provision the young with food. The cubs usually associate with their mother until autumn, when they disperse to find territories of their own.

Continuing the fox theme as I've spent more time in London for work over the past couple of weeks...

I see this fox hunting on my way to observe a badger burrow. Luckily i was hidden behind the edge of the forest and i could photograph it without disturbing it. I noticed while zooming in on the photo that it was a mother vixen with her depilated breasts.

Another shot of the prowling Fox I posted recently.

Thanks for viewing, and for any favs/comments.

A week or so ago Gracie was here and I went inside for a minute when I came back outside she told me she saw a fox run into the woods. She said she noticed it because the birds were creating a ruckus.

I saw "the" fox this morning as I was sitting at the kitchen bar. She was only here for a moment and I grabbed my camera and got some shots...difficult light and dirty windows. ;)

This spring there has been a lot of visitors to our bird feeders but since it became hot it has slowed down...except at night when the raccoons bring their youngsters to the feeders. I have had to bring them in at night because they will come up missing. There is a very nice anti-squirrel bird birdfeeder out there somewhere and I hope to find it this fall. :)

A red fox and a cross fox. :) There's three kits altogether; two red and one cross.

This foraging female Red Fox quickly moved from one boulder to another to get the high ground advantage. It seemed to work very well for her.

A couple of the foxes we were lucky to see out on the heath in Dorset last week. Evenings were the the best part of the day during the mini heatwave, and we made the most of them...!

A pair of growing fox kits sit and wait for mom to return to feed them.

A Red Squirrel scurrying up a nearby tree caught her eye! I know this one is quite similar to the previous one I posted of her, just can't decide if I like her looking away or looking towards me. :)

I feel like I've been posting all the same stuff lately, so here is another photo of fox kits from back in May. I have about 50 keepers from that day and this is only the tenth I have posted on Flickr.

Not an easy task when out doing landscape using a manual focus lens, but including it here as it is my first close-ish fox shot to date.

Also would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every Flickr friend a wonderful seasonal break and sincere thanks for the kind support in 2015.

Hope to catch up with everyone in the holiday.

Best wishes as always :)

This little fella was hanging around the car park in Folkestone! We think it might have been hoping for some water!
