Gloucestershire Vintage and Country Extravaganza 2015

1932 Fowler 10nhp B6 Super Lion showmans road loco No. 19782 "Lion" (UB 9763) - the first of only four Super Lions built by Fowlers - seen at the 2016 Gloucestershire steam & vintage extravaganza.

The 50th and final Showbus took place near Redbourn in Hertfordshire on 25/09/2022 and was attended by around 245 buses and coaches from up and down the UK.

My photos show some of the vehicles that helped make the day another big success.

From the new breed of Delaine single decker to an older one now...

New to Perryman's in 2004, this Volvo B7RLE joined the Delaine fleet in 2009 but has recently been acquired by Fowlers Travel, looking very tidy in their cream livery with the colourful Wrightbus logo too.

I’ve not seen Fowlers Travel that many times, yet when I do it’s always this same coach! VDO 929 is a Plaxton Paragon Volvo B12M, new as VU60 UJS, that sounds bloody brilliant. What with the 58 plate B9R Panther I recently saw that also sounded great, what is it with late 2000s/early 2010s Plaxton/Volvos and being acoustically fantastic?!

New to Nottingham City Transport

This isn't one of my usual posts, well one of my usual places. Today i ventured down south to the Fowlers depot, a company which operates many of our old Volvo B7TL Plaxton President vehicles. They look just as good as i remember them..

Fowlers Travel PL51LDV, a 2001 Volvo B7TL Plaxton President, was seen reversing into the Fowlers depot, blinded for the 6043 service, that operates from The Deepings School. This was new to London General as their PVL255. It later operated with East Yorkshire Motor Services as their fleet number 655. It still wears the older EYMS livery to this day.

In Pakistan, the Changa Manga Forestry Railway was a 2'0" gauge railway serving a plantation forestry concern originally established by the British in the 1860s.

21496 was built by Fowler of Leeds in 1936 and was shunting around for a visiting TEFS group on 20 November 1978.

The railway was still active at the time and continued in operation sporadically until around 2006. A 6km section is still kept open as a tourist attraction and two of the Fowlers are still believed to be in working order.

Steaming up the town street at Beamish Museum is 1920-built 13-ton Fowler road locomotive 15649 "Providence", registered CT 3940.

The engine was at the museum as part of the Transport Weekend of September 2021.
