These planes were seen flying in precise formation over Lake Balboa, Van Nuys CA. I believe these are WWII planes - perhaps the North American AT-6 Texan. Not a plane expert - just tried looking up on the web. So, please correct. I would be interested to know the correct ID.

Upper Antelope Canyon - Navajo Reservation - Page, Arizona View On Black
The rocks that make up Antelope canyon are the petrified remains of prehistoric sand dunes laid down when a shallow ocean filled this portion of North America. Cross bedding is noticable in the soft sandy walls. Many large overhangs with spiraling grooves carved into the sandstone loom overhead. Millions of years of erosion created this awesome splender of Mother Nature. Over time, the water started cutting it's way into this sandstone with tremendous force creating eddies and whirlpools, this is what makes the spiraling walls referred to as the Corkscrew formation.

Adventures with Nature docent friend Norma took us for a walk at Estero Bluffs, a place that is very familiar to me. But I don't know the rocks and she does--she really gets distracted by them. Thanks for the lessons, Norma.
This 4-5 ft. high section is part of a vertical cliff, ~40 feet away from the rock in adjacent photo.

Fast-moving Dunlins zip about in formation over the mouth of Paine's Creek Beach and the shallows at a Cape Cod Bay beach.

From my trip to Iceland earlier this year. Dyrhólaey is on the south coast of Iceland and features stunning rock formations and rock arches. The light was fading at the end of a short day, the sound of wave crashing felt like it was coming from all around.

At Tessellated Pavement,Tasman Peninsula
A walking track leads down to this strange rock formation on the shore where peculiar symmertrical erosion patterns have created the impression of a spread of paving stones.
At low tide you can walk across it and investigate some good rockpools :) See?

Fascinated by this cloud formation taken near Trawsfynydd - Llyn Morwynion Dam can be seen in the hills (y Garnedd is one of them).
Would love to know if there is any particular name for this type of formation.
